Jgp,

Twice I was in India to visit some iron foundries.

We went to Calcutta and from there by train to e.g. Asansol. I have to say travelling by train in India is quiet an experience :-) . We really enjoyed our stay even though it was for business.
Nice people, very nice food, but such a visible difference between rich and poor. After talking to a Belgian priest at the airport in Bombay, and what I had seen in Calcutta, I became a big admirer of Mother Theresa.

The end of last year I considered to go on holiday to India, but decided to go to Thailand where we escaped the tsunami by a month.

Next year India it wil be on the holiday menu :-)
