The most beautiful one (Poppies) wasn't allowed to win, because it was considered "too Flemish" by the very Francophone-heavy jury... as you can see in this video

To me Poppies have more meaning to British people than Belgians. Never seen a Flemish person wearing a poppy
And anyway Amare is also a Belgian icon ... Guess where Tomorrowland is held...
There is no plane with a Belgian icon which is by an author or which takes place in Wallonia!
Peyo Born and died in Brussels same for Herge,Lucky luck would be the more Flemish icon with Morris born in Kortrijk.

Brussels, Walloonia er Flanders, we don’t give a damm. The only thing wich make sense here to to make Belgium shine through those beautiful livery!

I fully agree on that. Be proud that we have an airline with very nice liveries.
Maybe next time it would be great if they can do it on an A330.

+1 !
When I was based in the United (then still) States of America, I often told my colleagues that Belgium is 4 times smaller in size than Ohio, that we have 3 official languages and that 2 of the tribes were constantly whining for being under considered and oppressed by the other. The third tribe representing less than 1% of the total population didn’t bother though, they kept on working.
It helped ease the tension on Mondays, when the Bengals fans exchanged with the Browns’.

This question has been raised internally, the problem on A330 is that it cost much more than on a A320 and the return on investment is lower since the A330 spend more time in the air than in airport and are mostly operating at night. But never say never

The only major mistake here is the promo clip where the SN team emphasizes during the editing itself: “It's too Flemish”. Both in word and image.

Business is about earning money in a sustainable way in your market segment.
Star restaurants do not sell burgers and McDo stick to their system, not looking for what does not fit there.
You can market an airline being loud when you open new routes and very silent when you close them few months after announcement, or you can do you work steadly, data driven and solid.
There are 3 new long haul planes approved, that 13 vs 9 pre pandemic capacity, wet leases excluded.
Several 319 leases are extended, new seasonal summer capacity is contracted - 4 units from Air Baltic.
Additional "evaluation" and rumors on A321 are ongoing - next allocation conference is in May 2025.
It's not like nothing is going on.
As an educated guess, let's see what will happen towards Italy once ITA would be on board and the country a new "home market", see how code shares etc with Air Baltic would evolve and so on.
In a group there are always more brands having needs.

Rumours, planning, 3 extra Lhauld "in the coming years...". Not very convincing.
SN has enjoyed a good summer season, like most airlines in Europe. But they focus on leasure too much
And with the economical crisis hitting stronger and stronger, that will proof not to be the right way
The only way to grow will be more TATL. Like it or not. Trump will give US economy a boost.. thearket will be there snd even more US citizens will come too Europe.
Pity that SN and BRU do not see that market
Short term there is overcapacity TATL and low yields.
And from a big picture prospective i would bet that ITA is the brand with the largest boost potential TATL.
BRU is neither needed nor planned as a hub for TATL to Europe transfer.
By the way, more leisure and exiting experiments and bullshit made Eurowings a Cash cow, so don't be so critical if SN is doing the same, even if it comunicates a slightly different image. Edeweiss has a dozen of Narrowbodies, Discover would build roughly the same in FRA and MUC, so as an educated guess there is room for similar capacity under the SN brand as well, or even more considering the Population served.

ITA deal is not done yet. See other well informed avistion sites.
The boom in leasure travelling will be over soon with the big crosis in most EU countries. 3 holidays a year is something of the past.
Wait and see.

For many US citizens coming to Europe under the Trump presidency, it might only be a one-way trip.
Do you really think it would fail for 10 mil? That's more tactics than everything.
Leisure is not only holidays, it's short City Trips, family and friends etc. And economic downturns are not affecting everyone the same way. Companies would cut costs as well, so existing fleets have to fly something else to earn their cost.
Anyhow, market consolidation in Europe is the key thing, momentum needs to be taken by all 3 big players.
