Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I meant all those frames that don't feature a proper SN livery.

I understand but it is time that also more widebodies have the new livery. Almost all A32F have the new liveryA321Lufthansa wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 19:26I meant all those frames that don't feature a proper SN livery.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The most beautiful one (Poppies) wasn't allowed to win, because it was considered "too Flemish" by the very Francophone-heavy jury... as you can see in this video

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Isn't Flemish Alex Callier (Hooverphonic) saying that? Not the French speaking people! I would not make it Flanders vs Walloons...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Yes, he says it in French as it's apparently the consensus at the table that it's "too Flemish"... they even put in in big letters on the screen.
Has anyone ever said Tintin or the Smurfs were "too Walloon"?
They draw attention to it themselves in the video. Crazy.I would not make it Flanders vs Walloons...
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Tintin and Smurf does not refer to any regionalism but to our Belgian culture which is not the case of the one you seems to find the most beautiful, which in my opinion is not the case. I actually really like the Atomium one which refer perfectly the project, the logo with the balls, the Belgitude and the new uniform.
With the new corporate identity of SN it was obvious this would be the one choosen.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
“In Flanders Fields” does not refer to "regionalism" but is the title of a world-famous poem, written in 1915, by Canadian John McCrae. It refers to the battlefields of the First World War (still receiving millions of tourists a year). The poppy is also a world-famous symbol that few people know is related to this history and thus originated in Belgium. This would have been a great opportunity to give this story a bit more exposure, but unfortunately the word “Flanders” will have been too much of a deterrent for certain people (who clearly lack historical understanding). A sad missed opportunity for Brussels Airlines, imo.
Now we have the Atomium... Another great uninspiring cliché. Next one waffles or chocolate? Yay.

Instead of being happy to have such a strong branding both of the airline and of the country, you are running again in small-small regionalist fights.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I am native french speaking, I speak several languages and Dutch. I don't care the language origin of the winning frame.
Flanders field is fantastic.
Atomium is a good choice as international image and marketing.
Cheers.

Isn’t it just great SN gets this opportunity to be “different” and promote its heritage? I guess painting an aircraft represents a cost. If it connects people one way or another to SN…mission accomplished I would think, no?
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Exactly anyway it has to be painted, this colors could be a bit more expensive but it's a beautiful way to promote Belgium.
Hasta la victoria siempre.
