BRU Summer 2025: news, new routes, airlines

Mid November there will be the royal trade mission to Brazil. LATAM also announced that they will expand their long haul fleet with extra B789. Plan is 2 long haul planes per year. They will expand intercontinental.

Hi, one year ago indeed you were talking about 2 or 3 new long haul airlines for 2024 and 2025. Thai was a big guess. Was Latam yet part of these projects ? Thanks.

I'm talking about that time that it was in the picture. Today it still is. Hopefully final decision after the royal trade mission which always gives the final push.

Highly unlikely Boston-Brussels with United... United only operated 1 long haul route from Boston to London and they suspsended it...
Delta has a major European hub out of Boston to Dublin, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Athens, Rome,. Edinburgh, Lisbon and launching Milan and Barcelona in 2025.
Not that this will happen but I think Jetblue should do Boston-Brussels, they already do Boston to London LHR and London LGW, Dubling, Edinburgh, Paris and Amsterdam with their major hub in Boston and connections everywhere the Brussels route would do well specially since the A321neo only has 138 seats.

I would not count on Jetblue. They are in a bad fin shape. Even the routes to Europe they don't perform like it should be e.g. Amsterdam.

Brussels Airlines will increase its flights to BCN / AGP / MAD & OPO as from SU25.
Some other destinations will be reduced but that's for some other changes that will be announced later.
One additional weekly flight to NBO as from june 25, 2 direct flights to DSS during the summer and one direct flight to ABJ on day 6.

Would be nice to see AI, United, Brussels Airlines and Air canada revive the (Jet Airways) scissor hub in BRU.

I have not seen much news about TATL expansion in the recent press releases...

India will be another royal trade mission

Don't know if BRU and SN are aware about Indian presence in the low countries. Many IT and high tech workers from India work for big NL and B companies. The biggest project where really thousands of Indians will work is on the B-NL border in Veldhoven.
The most successful NL company will expand drastically and employ up to 40.000 people there.

As these are long term contracts they will bring their families. Lot of traffic to be expected.
Time to prepare for some Indian destinations.

This means more than the diamond business.

Presently diamond biz is in dire straits. So is the chip making biz but the good times will come back soon here.

Royal trade missions do not automatically translate into new flights (where are MEL, SYD, KIX...).

Indian "consultants" and their families travel home every two years on average. Many will bring relatives over every summer, typically parents. Nevertheless, it takes a very significant number for that traffic volume to provide more than a marginal contribution to any given flight.

Two very simple reasons:

1. There is not enough demand for having flights from BRU to Australia.

2. There are no partners there to cooperate.

With The States you have UA who is in the same alliance. With South America there are already twice a day cargo flights with the same possible carrier, Latam.

Also between the 1st Apr till end of May there will be only 3 weekly flights instead of 5.

Last SN515/516 for that season flew on September 30.

C-check and paint job have started early on October then.

Concerning the 11th a330, there will be no other destination added but rather a consolidation of the network. More frequencies, less triangular flight.

Nairobi and Accra will be served daily, Dakar and Abidjan will have on some days direct flight.

The new A330 will bring 5 extra weekly flight in the network leaving the 2 other day some flexibility in case of irregularities.

Concerning MH it will be kind of the same, a consolidation of the existing network with more frequencies. One new destination ex-thomas cook served 1 time weekly a hint it’s an island.
