Newly paint? Or just maintenance ?

Indeed it received a new livery
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
While many facilities are 'specialized' they are not so rare that it is the reason aircraft sometimes fly far for maintenance. Most airlines negotiate multi-year contracts for each aircraft type, and it comes down to price and availability at the time. Sometimes that results in Brussels sending A330s to MLA while KLM flies A330s to BRU and Virgin does A339 base maintenance in BOD.
Delta famously flew empty 767s to China for maintenance because it was the best deal when they signed a contract, not because no one had the capabilities closer to home.
LHG has its own maintenance subsidiary with locations worldwide, Lufthansa Technik, but they compete for group aircraft business against other MROs.
The most specialized facilities don't even handle aircraft at all. They specialize in components that come in on a truck, e.g. engine turbines, electronics, landing gears... and are just as likely located in the middle of an industrial park as at an airport.

Found this on Reddit.
SN livery looks gorgeous on the A350! I hope they'll come soon...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
As of today, the oldest 333 would be due for replacement from 2030 onwards.
Questionable also the size needed/ planned, as the 789 would be similar to the 333 in size, which may be an advantage on thin routes.

If you mean size by number of pax yes, but what is important is cargo.oldblueeyes wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 12:53 As of today, the oldest 333 would be due for replacement from 2030 onwards.

Cargo has a much higher value than pax. The A350 can carry more cargo then the B787.
Even you don't have too much pax on a certain route, if your cargo is full you will do fine.
We had a few pax carriers at BRU who were mostly flying half or less then half full with pax. But the cargo was full and this was for the carrier more then reason enough to still operate. They even made profit

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
@Atlantis
It is a mix of having the closest to optimal number of frequencies, number of pay and their yield mix , ancilliary revenue from Pax and classic belly cargo.
And this regardless of market mommentum for one type of product and likely for one type of aircraft, only.
Whatever delivers the better bottom line in the assumptions, wins- as usual subject to on time availability.
Let's keep it agnostic, until decided.

Yes indeed, that's the case for the current A333. But don't forget that Swiss has currently 14 A333 aging between 12 and 16 years. So I see it happen they take over these 14 and Swiss gets more A350 or B777, no?oldblueeyes wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 12:53 As of today, the oldest 333 would be due for replacement from 2030 onwards.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
As of today, they are planned to get the new senses cabin, thus likely they may fly for one more decade.
Interestingwise they would start to build the New cabin in the 330 before making changes in the 773 subfleet, at least from what is public Information today.
But one never knows, once the first five 359 would join the fleet next year there may be some adjustments.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
But in 10 years the Swiss will also be too old anyway the new A350 for Brussels Airlines would be around 2035 maybe a bit earlier.DannyVDB wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 15:56Yes indeed, that's the case for the current A333. Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Pls take a look on todays presentation of results.
The Statement there is that long term there would be approx 4 long range aircraft models ( likely 5 with ITA).
Educated guess :
779
351
359
789
(339) - but this already out for SN
Thus i doubt that SN would get old Swiss 333, unless there would be some niche demand for low risk additional routes.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Nice to hear that all planes will be in SN livery next summer.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
ah good to hear that SFP will be painted too and glad that the EW livery will be finally gone. It is a bit confusing for passengers.
