Hi Bram,

First of all nice pics

I wanted to go to Volkel too, but a thunderstorm this morning was the reason that I took the decision to stay at home. Hopefully the weather will be more steady next year.

Regards, Robin Bamps.

Those are some great shot's you made out there Bram.

Thanks for sharing them. I also decided not to go when I woke up this morning and saw a hailstorm out of my window.

Didn't knew there was a Nimrod coming over :(

Best Regards,
Yvo

Very nice shots :D I recognise a lot of this in my own photos I took

I was there on both days and weather was indeed very poor  Friday was the worst day with many showers and in late afternoon it started raining till late evening   Today was better with from time to time a shower but also many sunny moments :D

All in all a good show with specials such as Italian F16's , Special painted F16-Tornado-AMX-... , Air Power Demo :D :D , ... but it's true that I already saw better KLu Open Days :?

My photos will be soon online on my website as I have to sort them out , took almost 1200 photos with my 300D,hugh... 8O :D 8)

I went and had a look to at Volkel Open Days on Saturday:

The weather behaved very good on saturday, eventhough rain and thunder where announced, the afternoon was very nice.

The quality of the show was good, but not to the standard compared to other years. All aircraft originated form UK, B, NL, I, F, D, US, and CH, not new NATO members where present, except for Bulgarian AF AN30. No scandinavian countries where present. Very interesting where the Italian F16s MM7248 and MM7246

The flying show was good, however I did not see al of it. Especially the Swiss F18 was a very good demo, as was the KLU F16

The good thing about this show was the entrance price being free, the sun being behind the spectators the whole day.

The lessors things the amount of people, the static being in front of the flying line, meant all people where packed in front of the static...
Also the numbers of military in front of the staic display was really to much

Those are some very nice shots Thomas.

It looks like the problems you had with your camera are solved.

 should've known that

thanks for correcting me (military's not my specialty)

But if my memory is correct, then they have some navy fitted (with the hook) F18's, so they can land on very short "foldable" rwy's hidden in the mountains...

ciao,
TriStar

It is a sad time in Europe when yet another Air Force joins the F-16 club. I know that the 16 is a capable aircraft but now the Italians have them there is even less variety in the mil skies.

At least the French hold out against a constant US barrage.
