Yes they are, from an economical and popularity point of view. It seems very unlikely that women football will ever get the same attention than men's football.
We should stop trying to artificially bring women to the same level as men on each and every single aspect. This is overhyped bullshit which is becoming a very sad and ridiculous story to be honest! Instead of desperately trying to do so, embrace differences between both genders and let them excel where they can and want to excel.
Sponsoring is not a charity act, but a business decision measurend in contacts generated.
Comparing the real interest on women's football vs men's , there is zero attention to it. Female teams were boosted in the past years as larger clubs were more or less obliged to integrate female foootball teams, but obvioulsy these are not generating adequate money.
To put it frankly - nobody says that women and men don't do the same work in sports - just that the outcome is different resulting in totally different revenue streams.
And this goes the other way round as well - does anyone want to see a male synchronized swimming team?

The economic return of women's football doesn't even come close to that of men's football. In Belgium women's football is artificially inflated to serve other interests.
Just compare the attendance when the Red Devils play to when the Red Flames play. The latter can't even fill a stadium with limited capacity (Leuven).

We can't exclude the possibility that Brussels Airlines has an in-kind sponsorship agreement. It may be less a matter of one team being worth less than the other, vs one team having a sponsorship contract that covers their transportation expense, and the other having to pay for its flights.

Teams and sports popularity rise and fall with the level of performance. Witness the women's NCAA basketball final games getting as much viewership, if not more than the men's as one but not the only data point... Not a joke. It's known for some time that each year an A330 and a few A320 will join the fleet. That's really a lot. Don't forget that you have to hire cabin and flight crew which is not easy at all. But also ground crew. This is very costly and very challenging for a small airline like SN. But good to see this ambition
