It looks like UAL619 BRU-EWR has to make a short stop in BOS.

BRU: DHL A300 is holding on A6 for DHL A332 to land on 25R. As the waiting A300 is blocking A6, the usual pattern is that the landed A332 would continue taxi on 25R to exit the runway on A7. However the A332 makes a full stop on 25R and holds short for A6 to first let the A300 cross 25R, such that afterwards the A332 can exit on A6, thus avoiding about 1,5km extra taxi distance to its gate. Makes sense of course, but I've never seen such a manoeuvre.

Plane had to make a fuelstop there. Due to winds and warmer weather, and with the loads (pax and bags) that day, it coudn't make it till final destination. The other option was leaving 20 pax and half of the baggage behind.Established02 wrote: 23 Jun 2024, 20:14 It looks like UAL619 BRU-EWR has to make a short stop in BOS.
With warmer weather coming now and expected full loads, this will be more the case. I remember US Airways frequently had this issue on their route to PHL, and usually made a stop in Shannon or Bangor.

Warmer weather? 25 degrees is far from limiting in Brussels.flywim wrote: 25 Jun 2024, 09:44Plane had to make a fuelstop there. Winds are less limiting as well in summer. Full loads aren’t though. Holding times in the New York area are the biggest factor.

It must be serious! Why can't she be towed away if there is a problem?

Because the problem doesn’t allow towing before maintenance took place, just saying!sn26567 wrote: 27 Jul 2024, 14:49 Three hours later, she is still there...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-KJK-LGG-OST in 2024
It was a fuel leak, due to overfueling. The plane was heavily loaded and scheduled for a nonstop BRU-SIN. And so apparently the pilots had taken too much fuel. The fuel kept spraying out of the wing nozzle, without the pilots noticing, until they were informed by the ATC tower and the plane was stopped on W4. Pilots do not get an indication on their instruments when such fuel leaks occur. The fuel kept spraying lightly the whole time, even when the plane finally taxied back to parking 600. Plane is scheduled for a normal departure today.

Pilots cannot order more fuel than the max capacity of the tanks. Obviously.
Be careful when making such statements.

I think it's about temperatures as well: the higher the temperature the more place it takes in the tanks (or the other way around), so it can be that when you add 100.000kg it fits in initially but it doesn't fit anymore when it warms or cools down - don't know how to explain it better.Lux_avi wrote: 28 Jul 2024, 09:00Pilots cannot order more fuel than the max capacity of the tanks. I do not think our friend Established02 has any need of that kind of warnings.Lux_avi wrote: 28 Jul 2024, 09:00Pilots cannot order more fuel than the max capacity of the tanks. Obviously. Be careful when making such statements.
Also, it seems obvious to me that he is well aware: the max. capacity can only be added when fuel tanks are completely empty. Which ought to occur rarely, only after certain maintenance procedures.

Pilots don’t add a certain quantity, they request a certain amount of fuel on board. Automatic shutoff valves prevent overfilling in case max fuel is requested. So pilots taking too much fuel is nonsense, indeed, as Lux_avi wrote. A problem with these shut off valves or the jettison valves probably caused the problem.
