As a lover of all that's the British Isles, I noticed that Liverpool and Glasgow are gone as destinations from Charleroi.B737229 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2023, 09:16 Ryanair to start flights to Cork - twice weekly S24

Ryanair are certainly very vocal about new destinations, but silent in all languages when a destination is dropped (but maybe that's true for all airlines).Shengenzone wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 08:16Yes, Aqaba has been removed as a destination this week as well.Ozzie1969 wrote: ↑07 Dec 2023, 20:13As a lover of all that's the British Isles, I noticed that Liverpool and Glasgow are gone as destinations from Charleroi.B737229 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2023, 09:16 Ryanair to start flights to Cork - twice weekly S24

Re: 2024 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
I've seen other airlines bury the announcements in one-sentence statements at the end of press releases about happier events such as new destinations, new aircraft, or enhanced onboard services.
"To continue providing our customers with the level of service they expect from us, service to ABC will end on XYZ date."

Re: 2024 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
During a press event in Brussels this morning, Irish low-cost airline Ryanair unveiled its 2024 Summer schedule for Charleroi Airport, located south of Brussels. The announcement included the introduction of six new destinations from the Belgian airport - Amman (Jordan), Cork (Ireland), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Göteborg (Sweden), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Tirana (Albania) -, along with plans to base two additional Boeing 737 aircraft, resulting in the creation of 60 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew, and engineers. In addition, Ryanair expressed concerns about what it perceives as "unfair tax and high costs at Brussels Airport."Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑13 Jan 2024, 08:59 New FR-route: Charleroi - Gothenburg from 31 March - 2x weekly

New Ryanair route from CRL to Olbia (Sardinia), twice weekly (Mondays and Thursdays) from 2 May.
It is not one of the 6 new destinations announced earlier in the month. Thus an additional one!

Re: 2024 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
Last week I visited Brussels via Charleroi. I found the airport difficult to navigate and very badly signposted. Then I had to stand in line for over an hour to get on the Flibco bus to Midi.
Luckily my stay in the city was a great round of beer, moules fritres and surrealist art.
The bus back to the airport was fine and I managed to navigate the CRL maze back to the Ryanair shed.

Re: 2024 Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news
I personally have the feeling that the current terminal is outdated and close to saturation. You can't be the 2nd airport of Belgium with only two security checks. You can do it for Antwerp, Liège or Ostend but Charleroi, no, it is one of the biggest bases of Ryanair. I know it is supposed to be low-cost but I have the feeling that the airport can't be prepared to a bigger extension, even widebodies had to be parked at special gates (B).
But I do not like Charleroi based on the passenger experience, I had to use it several times and honestly I prefer to take the plane from Brussels, being warm in the terminal with a jetway and not cold outside in winter. I have to take Ryanair due to the costs and because there are sometimes no other possibilities...
