Unsurprisingly, Amsterdal is the biggest market for Delta in Europe in terms of flights (up to 17 flights a day for 7 dest) followed by CDG is Delta's second largest market in Europe in terms of flights with up to 15 flights per day for 9 dest during peak periods. A real “base” (even if it’s not one). About CDG, Raleigh CDG is now optd by AF, CDG Indianapolis flights did not resume after Covid, CDG Pittsburgh was closed and Portland is connected to Amsterdam but not to CDG.
Delta Air Lines Is Planning Its Biggest European Summer Route Network Yet
They include 11 routes that started or returned last year or will do so soon.

The top five European airports
Delta's most-served European destinations are as follows. Obviously, Amsterdam and Paris CDG rank so highly because of SkyTeam's KLM and Air France (so does Rome due to ITA, albeit to a lower degree). Amsterdam is so important to Delta that it accounts for almost one in five of the carrier's European flights. https://simpleflying.com/delta-air-line ... 1707489368

On the Oostbaan (runway 22) of Schiphol, a Cessna 560XL Citation business jet (registered OE-GZK) made a runway excursion during landing and ended up with its nose in the grass. The airport fire brigade intervened and sprayed foam around the aircraft. No one was hurt; all passengers were safely removed from the aircraft.

The Dutch press now picks up a story from 21st June 2024: "Binnenlands Bestuur" asked the 7 biggest Dutch cities about their trips & travels. And the 'green-left' administrators from Amsterdam are by far the biggest flyer: 192 of a total of 290 trips by aircraft. Even from Amsterdam to Brussels and London: trips that should be done by train, according to their own rules.Passenger wrote: 29 Jun 2024, 19:52 The Municipality of Amsterdam, which is a 20% co-owner of Amsterdam Airport / Royal Schiphol Airport Group, demands a decrease to 400.000 movements, a ban on private jets and a ban on 'short flights'. The new Dutch government is considering to open Lelystad Airport for (holiday) charter flights, Decision will be taken in 2025.
The province of Flevoland and the municipality of Lelystad have been pushing for the opening of the airport for years because of the expected economic benefits and employment. At the same time, there are concerns about noise nuisance for local residents and permit procedures are still underway that need to be completed.

In 2024, KLM and Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport have been at the center of discussions regarding capacity limits. While the Dutch government initially planned to reduce flight numbers to address environmental concerns, backlash from airlines like KLM and JetBlue, along with international regulatory pressures, caused the government to reconsider. This has led to the abandonment of those capacity cuts for summer 2024, balancing environmental priorities with industry growth. youtub vanced
Re: KLM and/or AMS Amsterdam Schiphol Airport - Latest news 2024
The target is now a reduction to 485,000 slots per year. This means that AMS will not revert structurally to the 500,000 slots pre-Covid. At present the cap is 500,000 slots, but after the legal work has been done, it will go to 485,000 slots and, most likely, a night curfew. In addition, once the fleet renewal of KLM and Transavia has finished, the cap will be revisited (but that was also in the previous plan).noahUK wrote: 08 Sep 2024, 15:21 In 2024, KLM and Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport have been at the center of discussions regarding capacity limits. KLM seems to have been hit by cost increase, demand issues and is starting a cost reduction program, possibly including delayed A359 deliveries.
