The old South African Airways A340 economy seats were amazingly comfortable. The IFE was horrendous towards the end, but by that time everyone had a tablet or other ways to entertain themselves (mind you: these were red-eye flights I took between SA and the EU)

Most Asian carriers and the 3ME do a great job of providing a good Economy class Experience.

Economy Class experience is not the same as quality of a seat. Any airline that stuffs 10 seats abreast in a 777 or 9 seats abreast in a 787 should be excluded from that ranking, because seat width is then reduced to 17in. Imagine an 8-hour trip with only 17 inches for your shoulders!

Regarding Turkish it is true when it comes to A330 or B777. Unfortunately their seats in A350 are fully identical to those in B787 meaning that they are noticeably narrower.

Regarding Turkish, this is true when it comes to the A330 or B777. Unfortunately their seats on the A350 are completely identical to the B787 which means they are noticeably narrower.

2005/2006
SIA 772ER/773 - very good legroom but maybe due to the wear and the seats are 'thin', it feels hardnulls clash
SIA 744 - legroom is OK but not used to the old-styled overhead compartment because it makes the ceiling so low...

is seat pitch (legroom) or seat width (shoulder/hip room) the more critical factor for a comfortable long-haul economy flight, especially considering the trend toward thinner seats?"
