There is NO better camera. On Luchtzak we have both D70 users and 300D users. But you cant tell from the result which camera they used ... The 300D and D70 both have their advantages and disadvantages ! The 300D, for instance, has got No Sevo AutoFocus, and only a 4-frame-buffer. The D70 on the other hand, has got severe problems with moiré and when shooting at high shutterspeeds, it also has a lot of problems with colours.
If you are planning on buying a new DSLR, you should first look at what you allready have. If you don't have anything, you can get a difficult choice ...
You should also check which lenses are available for your camera. I have been looking around for new lenses and I had the impression thet you could find more lenses for Canon then for Nikon. Probably because Canon makes more lenses then Nikon
What you should do is choose a budget (for example 1.500€) and then look at the possibilities. Lok around for cheap (but reliable) shops ...
You can see the characteristics of the D70 compared those of the 300D HERE

Most of them made with a 300D by me
(check also the pics of Vonsmalhausen, Avro .. .. .. also 300D)
It 's indeed a hard choice, both are good cams

In theory the D100 is better. But I doubt it is worth the extra 400€'s ...
If I were you and you're not in a hurry, wait untill Photokina (28/09 till 03/10). Canon is very likely to announce a new camera there and Nikon knows that. You never know what Nikon has up it's sleeve ...
If you ARE in a hurry, I would buy a D70, not a D100 ...

When I return home from shooting pics: I can directly get my pics, process them an put 'm online. I don't have to buy films or slides... so much cheaper after all.Lyulka wrote:I'm just wondering why people these days only consider digital cameras. I recently bought a decent analoge one (eos 300v) for less than halve the price of a digital!
Tom ( happily shooting with Canon 10D)
To be honest, that's something I can't understand...
Do you still feel like it's the picture you shot when you need to process them? Ok, true, half of the pictures I take are useless, and so money is lost. But no mechanical failure will ever ruin my pictures! (who of you never had a HD which broke down, in a few years time R/W cd's can't be read anymore...)

Yup processed pictures are still the pictures I took... But proccessing isn't more than some sharpening, or erasing some dust spots on the picture, getting a better composition. Photographers used to do that in their black-room... nowadays i do it with Photoshop.
HD's are indeed not failsafe. But my pictures are stored on my second HD and on my removable HD, to minimize the risks. And Back-ups on DVD are also in use here.
