Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wrong guess: OO-SFF in fact faces a hydraulics issue, with flight controls inoperative.

To be more precise, it will be possible to book in business class for the entire network as from 31st january. And business will be available on all flights as from 31st march.

No, it's hydraulic leak according to my source.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
It is nice to read this, and also that they will have new uniforms, and make a bike trip in Ghana.
I would however prefer to read about more frequencies and new destinations (like OS to Boston, LX to Seoul,..)
Just booked flight to Barcelona; I was amazed to see that SN flies only two (2) flights à day to this super-popular destination.
Ryanair has 2 a day ( and another 2 from CRL), Vueling/Iberia has 3 or 4 per day.... Transavia probably soon coming with more.
How can a main carrier as SN be so under-represented on a route like this ??? Does SN have a commercial (or) marketing department ??
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Very simple, one of the reasons are planes. SN has not enough of them to fly 4 to 5 rotations to certain destinations.JOVAN2 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2024, 21:58It is nice to read this, and also that they will have new uniforms, and make a bike trip in Ghana.

It's a choice to make.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Confirms my point; no ambition, happy to be an underdog. How sad for our national airline. Let us give everything to our competitors..Atlantis wrote: ↑02 Feb 2024, 22:54Very simple, one of the reasons are planes. Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Which competitors? Low-cost airlines? Pinky-swear you won't complain about the inevitable decline in service if Brussels goes full low-cost?
This for a business route so essential that Spain's full-service carrier has a grand total of 0 non-stop flight and hands over the market to its low-cost subsidiary. But clearly you know the market better...

Well, you do not seem to know that Barcelona is e real business city.
See eg. all the US airlines that opened new routes to BCN in recent months.
The city has taken over many exhibitions and events from other cities.
Eg they took SeaFood expo from Brussels. One of the biggest shows on earth. All hotels in Belgium were full for one week.
Barcelona is business with a lot of extras.
Klm flies there 5 times a day.
Then you have Transavia etc.
SN is not really there for business
So we disagree..
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
You can't be serious... KLM and KLM Cityhopper has together a fleet of short-medium haul of >100 planes. SN only around 30. You really don't get it that SN cannot fly 4 to 5 rotations to every single business destination???JOVAN2 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 09:56longwings wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 03:41Which competitors? Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Sum-up of the L’Echo/De Tijd article :
Tourists discover business class, while business travelers fly economy
For the next summer season, Brussels Airlines is planning a business class on all its flights. Whereas the champagne flute and meal with real cutlery were previously reserved for long-haul flights, they will now also be available on flights to popular vacation destinations such as Las Palmas, Palermo and Rhodes, at a ticket price one-and-a-half to two times that of economy class.
The airline is responding to the growing number of travellers opting for the convenience of business class. Indeed, the major European airlines saw their profits soar last summer, not least due to strong demand from leisure travellers for the more expensive classes.
On an average European flight, around 5% of Brussels Airlines seats are reserved for business class passengers. According to early bookings, business class is very popular with travellers to Nice, Malaga and the Canary Islands. For these flights, up to 10% of tickets are often sold in business class.
Lufthansa Group will invest a total of 2.5 billion euros between now and 2025 in improving the comfort of its most expensive classes. This involves not only replacing business-class seats on aircraft, but also investing in lounges at home airports, notably the two business lounges at Brussels Airport.

But that's not an argument if there is a market they need to rent more planes...obviously!!!!Atlantis wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 11:04You can't be serious... Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Yes, sure... many CEO's here on this forum. There is no time like Sabena anymore and Belgian aviation changed drastically. Thomas Cook away, TUI shrinking, Air Belgium under reorganisation, aviation school bankrupt, etc.lumumba wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 15:01But that's not an argument if there is a market they need to rent more planes...obviously!!!!Atlantis wrote: ↑03 Feb 2024, 11:04You can't be serious... We all can hope that one day SN will have 60 to 70 planes but today not.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
You'll probably never accept the fact that Brussels Airlines is based in Belgium. A tiny small country surrounded by major hubs, such as LHR/AMS/CDG/FRA. Should SN follow your fantastic plans & ideas, they would go bankrupt in a second.
SN is doing quite a good job being what they are today, IMHO.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Me too
I understand but the argument of Atlantis is not enough that's what I mean and I want to understand why Brussel Airlines is not taking a bigger part of the cake?
Hasta la victoria siempre.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
SN is very much going the same way as SNCB, De Lijn,...Bpost
Maybe more Belgium know semi-state organisations.
I know SN is in German hands.
But changing the CEO is a clear
Sign of lack of confidence.
