Does someone know what is their situation? On FR24, we see their planes flying every day for passengers as well as cargo flights for several companies, including LOT, DHL, Corsair, and some asian companies.

Normally in the second part of this month should be more info. The juridical reorganisation should be closed by then.

ACMI market is really strong, there is high demand, prices are significantly increasing.
They surely have a future in that segment.

EXCLUSIF - Scandale Air Belgium : une arnaque en haute altitude

https://pan.be/article/exclusif-scandal ... dRJDY3JEDE

(Google translate)

If there is one name that stands out with bitter fervor in the economic news of the moment, it is that of Air Belgium. A company whose name and ambitions were most promising! Just think: the promise of sun and the exoticism of the islands, direct from Charleroi airport and all at a reasonable price! Alas, the dream was short-lived: today, less than 6 years after the first flight, Air Belgium has a completely different resonance... Plunged since last September into a legal reorganization procedure, the Belgian airline has transformed itself into symbol of disappointment and anger for thousands of cheated customers. In fact, 20,000 customers are left in total chaos, their tickets canceled without much hope of reimbursement for many of them. But the double icing on the cake is that not only does the company continue to prosper thanks to its wet lease activities, but in addition, the Walloon region, which has marbles in history, is especially conspicuous by its absence. !

Ridiculous article. As if the runway length had only been decided for Air Belgium.
That project was already being discussed years before the creation of AB.

Many aggrieved customers will take part in the hearing of the Nivelles Business Court which will take place this January 26 at 9 a.m., in order to demand the pronouncement of the “fraudulent bankruptcy” of Air Belgium. They also demand “the immediate arrests of administrators and associated criminals”... Including, hopefully (we can always dream...) the state and the Walloon region, which will have to answer for their role in this financial and financial debacle. ethics.
That's remarkable news. On 25/09/2023, the same tribunal accorded a "friendly judicial reorganization":
Date du jugement : 25/09/2023
Objectif de la procédure : réorganisation judiciaire par accord amiable
Date d'échéance du sursis : 22/01/2024

The new court case (26/01/2024, dagvaarding in faillissement / citation en faillite) suggests that Air Belgium failed to find that friendly agreement with their clients. For days, and perhaps even for weeks, Air Belgium's owners accepted deposits and prepayments, though they knew they were not going to operate the flights.

And meanwhile, some shareholders served themselves from those deposits with consultancy fees. No mercy for them.

Court case 26.01.2024 or 16.01.2024? Are they going now for bankruptcy?

Blah blah blah. I read it and I was laughing. This is complete bullshit. Some of these people are not even happy to fly with Emirates while they are supposed to fly with Air Belgium "needing to make a stop during the night". Urgh it is like a taxi in a Fiat and a Uber in a Mercedes-Benz, not the same at all. Still wondering how people can complain about this, at least they are still getting home, because how many bankruptcies have we got in the world recently with thousands of people being stranded with no plan B at all?

You're absolutely right, but AB gave a boost. However now CRL can welcome A330s and A340s without any issue.

This letter is pure amateurism. First of all, I had already received by email and as author, I refused to write about it, there were such idiocies that it was a nonsense to talk about it. I'm even sure that this group of people sent to many media but no one accepted except PAN. PAN isn't even known as being serious, it is like Charlie Hebdo, satirical. Then a journalist specialised in Mobility has published it. Lots of things are wrong.

Ordering the management to be arrested looks like something from the Stasi or so. Do you want another proof of this amateurism? Audiences at the Commercial Court of Nivelles are on Mondays. Can't wait them to be there on a Friday. 8-)

Their audience was on 8 January.

Not sure about A340s !

"Four-engine aircraft, which are very noisy, will no longer be welcome in Charleroi."

This is one of the new measures revealed by the Minister of Walloon Airports for the renewal of the airport's environmental permit.

Yup, it is a statement of fact : I'm the original writer. Due to many problems with the RR Trent 7000. However it is the first time that it is told that there are problems with those engines, to the big difference that A330neo are in service for several years already. Concerning my sources, they are reliable and I had access to a document of the airline. Many of them could confirm it. But I question myself if Air Belgium is actually lying or is it the first time that it can be officially reported.

What's the problem with the engine? The RR Trent7000 has been quite reliable so far, and from what I can see from the Airbus manifest, almost as reliable as the 700. (I I thought it was basically a Trent 1000 with some XWB tech, no?)

Last I heard there was some metal debris found in ABF's engine, is there news to where this debris was coming from?

One of ABF’s hydraulic systems had a low pressure warning, the aircraft returned to Brussels and during the subsequent inspection metal chips were, surprisingly, found in the engine oil system. Air Belgium, RR and the leasing company are blaming each other regarding the responsibility for the unusual damage. The termination of the leasing agreement is a direct consequence of this disagreement.

The “reporter” clearly didn’t understand the explanation given by the airline and should have asked for clarification instead of suggesting here the airline might be lying!

I only suggested so because I've read Simple Flying comments and not a lot of people weren't convinced that these issues had as consequence the termination of the contract.

Furthermore, RR issued a statement : "As far as we are aware this is not an engine issue. The Trent 7000 engines on these aircraft have performed well and have delivered industry-leading levels of reliability and availability during the time they have been operated by the airline. Air Belgium remains a valued customer.”
