Why would they give up for a so small player with any network? They are too strong for that.
BTW UA is going to increase more during Winter 23-24 by adding a second B787-10.
Yes, they upgrade current flights. But what if - and that's a major if, I know - AB would start let's say SFO or LAX, BOS (not a *A-hub though)? Will A++ react and have UA start flights to the Westcoast or SN to BOS? Or just sit this one out?
It would be very unresponsible of LH to not react. Long haul had a much bigger impact than short haul.
But Delsay Airlines tried it also years ago. Was the same situation without network. They only flew shortly on the Westcoast.
It's really hard to say with KF.
But The States are really underserved. LH should make it stronger. They also should look at their right side, Poland, bcs they start to have a very strong long haul network. Certainly when their mega airport will open in a few years.
If LH or others will not react, if wish KF all the best to be successful and to do what others don't
Delsey and VG were ridiculous ventures by two super arrogant millionaires.
Same for Vastapane who took over Sobelair because his grandchildren liked to go to South Africa to see elephants.
Terzakis is a professional. For sure in cargo, but also in PAX flights.

Freddy Van Gaever, who started VG Airlines, was far from 'arrogant'. Yes, he was a millionaire, but only just. He took a high risk and invested all his savings (excluding his nice home) in an airline, including a bond of 1M to ILFC. When he needed to invest more, his wife objected. Tony Gram then took over all shares. Yes, Gram is a multi-millionaire (175M thanks to Kipling and Delsey). I don't know if he is arrogant - seems you know him better then I did. But Gram honoured the 1M bond to FVG a few months after the Delsay Airlines bankruptcy.

The extra bonus for Vastapane was wildlife related indeed. Not to go on safari though. Vastapane owned The Big Five Tax Free Shops in JNB Johannesburg and CPT Cape Town. The belly cargo of the 767 was loaded with Belgian chocolates and Belgian beer for those shops. And on the way back home: South African products (mainly wine) for Belgian Sky Shops / International Duty Free at BRU, owned by... yep.

January and February have a high risk of hurricanes around Mauritius. Touroperators know that, so they limit their allotments.
In the early morning of 21 June, an Air Belgium A330-200 reg. OE-LCL operating flight MD51 from Paris CDG to Antananarivo (TNR) for Air Madagascar diverted to Réunion island (RUN) for an unknown reason. It continued to its final destination on 22 June, the day at which it resumed normal operations with flight MD50 to CDG.

In the last few days i heard a lot of advertisement of AirBelgium on VrtRadioEén. Maybe also on other radio stations ?
Pity they promote only one destination. Mauritius.
Why not CPT and JHB ?
British Airways in last week’s schedule update extended leased Air Belgium A330-900neo aircraft service, as the A330neo continues to operate on 1 of 2 daily London Heathrow – Chicago O'Hare service between 29OCT23 and 14NOV23.
Operational schedule below is effective 07NOV23 – 14NOV23.

OE-LAJ and OE-LAL seemed to be at EBOS for short time storage?
Further info available?
So far they shouldn't be flying before at least September, but who knows. Summer is known to be weaker in terms of freight and I guess they were stored in Ostend as it must be cheaper than in Zaventem.

I would do that if I see it, feel free to "tag" me if it's the case and I'll have the same remark. But with all my respect, so far I haven't seen it yet. I do not care about Dutch, French, Spanish, Polish, Hungarian or whatever. But when quoting something in another language, a small translation should always be added. This is just per respect that we are asked to use English on this forum so that everyone, non-belgian as well can understand, let's just try to stick to this simple rule.
