Actually it is more a discussion of either:
- dumb nationalists
- enthusiasts

The key factor selling in the industry is price.
Unless you are not in the cheap-cheap category and in the flying from nowhere to nowhere market, a decent amount of your pax would board in directly from the terminal, not having a clear view on the plane.

But you have to take in consideration all the passengers that aren't flying with them and walking in the airports they will see it.

And what is the conversion rate of seeing a branded airplane as a customer of the competition and switching ? Mark3ting is not only about nice things, it is a hard thing based on numbers.

There are several good reasons why branding is not coming first:

- politically, there was a clear decision in the group that airplanes should be rebranded when painting is due
- as a company, there is anyhow a rollover of the fleet from 319 to all 320 starting from one side and there is a lot of activitiy on the long haul fleet going on
- does anyone know what fleet decisions might be taken in the coming months? the ITA acquisition shall close in the coming weeks, let's see if they can afford to take all A339 they have on order and if not if maybe SN could expand with some of them
- furthermore TAP should be also a candidate for European consolidation - so let's see how hubs, netowrks, competition on long haul will be re-designed in the coming few years

What if these paintings are simply on hold until routes, hubs, subfleets might be needed to be re-optimized again?

I highly doubt they would terminate JFK during the IATA winter season. JFK is an important feeder for many AFI destinations, and EWR won't be enough to cover the NY area (UA).

OTOH, Washington - IAD is more an overlap concern, since it's an historical UAL route. Considering UA's strong postions with premium heavy cabins they send to BRU, it's very difficult for SN to sustain that route in Winter.

Hi all,

Early March me and my colleague were travelling to JFK on SN metal to go to Saint Lucia (with jetBlue). Because the prices were quite low I booked the JFK tags in business and premium economy respectively. I upgraded the premium economy flight with M&M vouchers to business without problem (on UA and LH flights you can usually forget it since they are always - more than - full).

The flights were busy but certainly not full. In November last year my same colleague used the same flight through JFK and he said flights were not full at all (he had in economy a full row available ). In the same period I went through EWR and these flights were completely full.

So I can imagine that in some periods of the year JFK which is mostly O&D are not sold out ... I think the main reason is because it is mainly O&D

On a side-note: we went through JFK because 1) anyway we have a stop-over of one night (more relaxing than the stressing connections via LHR/LGW) and 2) JFK provides daily connections to Saint Lucia (UVF) and EWR does not ...

PS1: SN flight was on Eurowings metal and we had a very good service
PS2: No I did not go to Saint Lucia on holiday, but to work

A Brussels Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration OO-TCH performing flight SN-3781 from Brussels (Belgium) to Tenerife South,CI (Spain) with 172 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 10nm south of Nantes (France) when the crew decided to return to Brussels due to hydraulic problems. The crew reported, they needed to be towed off the runway after landing. The aircraft landed safely on Brussels' runway 25R about 2:15 hours after departure. The runway was also inspected after landing.

The aircraft returned to service about 18 hours after landing.

Indeed, the registry was first used for a C-47 and then an A321 which was used by VLM in all-white livery for a while.
