Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2023
After having discovered something (most probably a technical glitch) that made them turned around, they had to either burn or dump fuel to avoid an overweight landing back into BRU.

Qatar Airways Cargo flight QR8248 from Brussels to Doha, operated by AirACT Boeing 747-400 registered TC-MCT, squawked 7700 above Frankfurt and returned to Brussels at a low altitude. Reason unknown.

A Cargolux B744 encountered a problem after departure this afternoon, went on hold for a while then squawked 7700 and returned 50 minutes after T/O.
The flight was bound for ORD so probably on the heavy side on landing back.
Support vehicles on the runway, probably sweeping debris.
Several flight diverted to LGG, BRU, HHN, SXB.

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2023
An unusual visitor in Brussels this morning. A Thai Airways A330-300. Thai no longer has scheduled flights to Brussels and certainly not in the A330-300. What was even more unusual is that Thai Airways only has 3 remaining A330-300 aircraft in it's fleet : HS-TEN, HS-TEO and HS-TEP but all 3 aircraft are flying around Asia today so which aircraft is in Brussels?
Then the mystery was solved. It is an older Thai Airways A330-300 registered HS-TBB that was stored in Bangkok since February 2021 which was supposed to fly from Bangkok to Woensdrecht (Bergen-Op-Zoom), The Netherlands for parts-out and scrapping but this morning the aircraft had to enter the holding pattern between Hasselt and Sint-Truiden Belgium before diverting to Brussels due to fog.
The crew will take their minimum rest in Brussels before flying the aircraft to its final resting place.

This ATC staffing shortage is a disgrace. Just like the occasional Immigration officers shortage. Or automated passport control machines that break down.
And we are nevertheless faced with higher, sometimes much higher, ticket prices...

A Brussels Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration OO-SSO performing flight SN-2317 from Brussels (Belgium) to Gothenburg (Sweden) with 125 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing out of Brussels' runway 07R cleared to climb to FL090 when the crew requested to stop the climb at 4000 feet, they had an open door indication. The aircraft returned to Brussels for a safe landing on runway 01 about 20 minutes after departure and taxied to the apron.
The aircraft departed again after about 80 minutes on the ground and reached Gothenburg with a delay of 2:30 hours.

Yes. I heard everything became a bit more expensive lately...
Unfortunately nothing has changed behind the scenes, lack of staff is still a huge problem. This summer is going to be demanding for sure.

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2023
Not entirely sure, whether an anomaly, but as of 06.06. around 10, rwy 07R/25L was not anymore active (despite northeasterly winds which would make 01 the primary rwy for landings and 07R the primary rwy for takeoffs) due to rwy works. At the moment single rwy ops 01, probably until 1800LT.
Edit: frequent rwy changes during the day 06.06. to be expected, according to the BATC website.
