Hi!

I’ve heard rumors saying the airport will close down during the summer for work. Does someone have info on that regard? I see flights are available with TUI, so I’m confused.

Good evening!

It will be not a new runway .
The existing RWY 11-29 will receive a complete restoration and renovation.
Expected timeframe works: between 19 september 2022 till 25 oktober 2022.

Potatoes, potatos, the result will be a new surface including everything under and on it. So a new runway on the old location.

After the 'Belair Restaurant' bankruptcy in 2019, a new resto 'Belair Antwerp' will re-open within a few weeks (probably by Easter):

If the new brasserie wants to survive, it will have to attract more than just air passengers. A nice terrace for visitors with a view of the apron should be ideal, but I doubt it will happen!

Well, it has an open-air rooftop terrace with an excellent view, its very weather dependent (obviously), but also depending on staffing and clients levels, whether the terrace was opened or not. A major 'selling point' they do have lost, is the free-of-charge parking just in front of Belair. Now being fenced and used by airport staff, occupying mostly only a quarter or a third of the available parking space. And the only other parking space available is on the paid parking.

The airport bar-restaurant opened today, with opening hours daily from 8 till 22h and with a 50% reduction on the paid-parking rates.

It seems that SkyAlps will serve both Antwerp and Brussels.

Hi,

Strange as you see... that RTM ( 3* daily ) and AMS ( BA+KLM) and LUX all got this connection...
Flights in ANR weren't that bad on the route ..
Even EIN has a 3* daily rotation to STN...
So nothing new for ANR is indeed strange...

BA with E175 even TUI with E190 could be working...
The new FLYBE with their Dash...

After Covid... It's time !

I don’t think it will happen. Eurostar is the real competition here. Add brexit & Covid, and the decline of diamond sector in Antwerp…Even BRU has seen a serious reduction in flights. To LHR.
BA 2X daily SN 3? Mostly connecting pax. I assume. Besides I don’t think other airports in the London area are served from BRU anymore. NL is further away by train.. therefore still more O/D traffic than from Belgium plus connections.

You can't compare BRU-LHR to ANR-LCY. If you need to be in the centre of London for business or for a short stay, you loose so much time at LHR that the Eurostar is a better alternative. But at ANR and LCY you're in and out of the airport much quicker, and at LCY you're much closer to the city too.
AMS and RTM also have competition from the Eurostar, but they still have (a lot of) flights. You won't fill 5+ flights per day from ANR, but a morning and evening rotation like in the VLM days should still be viable.
