Helvetic Airways plans to operate six aircraft for SWISS in summer 2022. The regional carrier says SWISS breached their wet-lease contract when it decided to operate only four of eight E190-E2s, however, it has no plans to pursue the matter further.

SWISS may face legal action from the ground staff union SEV-Gata, which is considering legal action against the airline over the premature implementation of a crisis collective labour agreement. SWISS rejected the allegations

It seems that due to fuel shortage at Johannesburg, Swiss Airilines flights departing from Johannesburg stop in Durban (South Africa) or Windhoek (Namibia).

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/lx283

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/swiss-i ... k-wdh.html

Note that in 2019 Zurich and Geneva were among the most popular destinations via QR to Namibia. About fifteen years ago Air Namibia served Zurich. However i think there is a few chance to see again commercial flights between Namibia and Switzerland.

No sign of a return of LX to Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam?

In 2019, Qatar Airways carried more Windhoek passengers to/from Germany than any other country. That's not surprising: Namibia was a German colony and far more Germans visit than any other European nationality. Eurowings Discover will serve Windhoek 1x daily from Frankfurt this year.

However, booking data shows that Paris CDG was Qatar's largest origin and destination in 2019, followed by Zurich, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan Malpensa, Helsinki, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, Moscow Domodedovo, Brussels, and Geneva. Over seven in ten Windhoek passengers transferred over Doha.

SWISS has terminated its bank loan facility guaranteed by the Swiss Confederation before the end of the term. The Lufthansa Group company will meet its future financing needs via the capital markets.

I have just seen this photo of the display screens at Brussels airport, took on June 25, 2022. https://scontent-cdt1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/ ... e=62C3E21C

Swiss International Air Lines has started code sharing on Brussels Airlines Africa flights. We can see the flight BRU-Kigali-Entebbe and BRU-Ouagadougou-Abidjan

All destinations are concerned except Kinshasa.

Code share before the opening of routes to Africa from LX? Long time before the covid the CEO of LX said that he was interested in using his A321Neo on Africa where the A330 / A340 or B777 are too big. Swissair in the past had a large network in Africa

In Kenya and Tanzania LX seems now focused on Leisure destinations with Edelweiss Air that serves Mombasa and Zanzibar "replacing" Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam previously served by LX before the covid

SWISS has proposed extrajudicial mediation to the Aeropers pilots’ association, as the partners are unable to reach an agreement on a new collective labour agreement for the company’s cockpit personnel.

SWISS and the Aeropers pilots’ association agreed on the cornerstones of a new collective labour agreement over the weekend. Aeropers will submit the new CLA to their members for approval after the editing phase.

SWISS subsidiary Edelweiss is adding three destinations to its route network for summer 2023: Akureyri, Biarritz and Bari. In total, the carrier will launch 65 short-haul destinations in 21 countries.

SWISS has acquired a financial interest in Swiss-based technology company Synhelion in a further step to help bring solar fuels to market. Synhelion will be using the funds raised by this latest financing round to scale up and commercialize its technology.
