SN Brussels Airlines has won a prestigious award - the Africa Travel Association Award for Outstanding Service - in one of its key operating areas, Africa.
Present to receive the award during the Association’s annual conference in Douala, Cameroon was Peter Davies, CEO of SN Brussels Airlines, accompanied by Philippe Saeys- Desmedt, Country Manager for Cameroon. Davies was delighted with the award which, he said, confirmed the value of SN’s continued efforts to provide the best service, and to give the greatest access possible to Africa as both a business and a leisure destination. Equally important, he added, was SN’s key role in providing a bridge from Africa to Europe, and through to the United States. The award was presented by Mira Berman, Executive Director ATA.
A professional travel industry association, the ATA is an American-based organisation dedicated to promoting tourism to Africa, with chapters throughout Africa, the United States and Canada. Its membership is comprised of National Government Tourist Offices, hotels, airlines, ground and tour operators, travel agents, group tour leaders, marketing and media executives. The Association focuses particularly on responsible and eco-tourism, and works to promote sustainable tourism development throughout the African continent.
According to Jane Thompson, an Association spokesperson, the ATA was particularly pleased to present this award to SN, especially as, she said, this was the first time such a prize had been awarded for a service operating from Europe. The Service Awards were set up in 1985, she added, and have only been given out to companies who have made outstanding contributions to African tourism.
‘SN is vital to the Association, and to African tourism in general’ said Ms Thompson, ‘ especially now as it can provide a transatlantic service with its American Airlines partnership’.
Previous award winners include such worldwide companies as American Express, National Geographic, PBS (the US public television network), as well as several leading airlines.
