Seems logical: long-haul and probably some heavy cargo on board, guess we'll see more of this during the works on 25R/07L.

Very rare situation: 25L for both take-off and landing! Watch out of traffic jams near the threshold.

I have seen that RWY 19 is used much lately. Is this due to the temporarily closure of RWY25R/07L? Because right know the winds also favor this runway, but say Sunday there will be not much wind at all. Will RWY25L/07R or 01 be used then? What do you guys think?

The preferred runway configuration until the 23 of August (end of the works) is 19 for arrivals and departures. So probably 19 on Sunday. :)

Without being an expert in RWY usage in EBBR: using the 19 direction makes sure that there are less residential areas affected by airplane noise: the landing path for 19 does not lead over densely populated areas like 01 would. And since EBBR is still pretty much capable of handling traffic with a single RWY in operation, that would likely be 01/19, since both landings onto 07R as well as departures from 25L are - for the reasons written above - rather a rarity.

So if weather allows, my guess for the weekend would be 19 again.
Best regards,
Viktor

A rare situation right now: both takeoff and landing on Rwy 25L. Most short- and medium-haul aircraft can takeoff from the C1 intersection without having to go to the threshold of the runway and backtracking.

Hello all,

Not really sure where to post this question (so if placed wrong @admins, feel free to place it in the correct forum) but here we go.

When I went plane spotting in October at RWY01, I parked my car in the Namenstraat (street of SK Nossegem). There were signs signalling works were taking place, but nothing was to be seen.
Does anybody know whether those works have started? Or are they past the parking spot for plane spotters, meaning that the road to the parking spot and road to the spotters platform remain accessible for plane spotters?

Just saw OO-LOE landing on RWY01.

ATIS Kilo at 0620 : ARR ILS RWY01. DEP RWY 07L and R
Wind 040 at 2, variable btwn 360 and 070.

Wind 02 knots is much more demanding than the classical "variable 1 knot, gusting 2" but why RWY 01 for landing?
Can't see Notams preventing using 25 and hardly significant tail wind.

Is it because of winds aloft?

Airport Mediation is not happy:
"This morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021, we do not have any objective and correct information that allows us to understand the maintenance of the 01/07 runways with a wind of 3 knots, without gusts and without wind at altitude."

"We have informed the Minister and the Commissioner of the Government of these findings which seem curious to us in relation to the regulatory requirement and court decisions."

Are both runways currently in use for landing, 25R and 25L?
I wanted to take the kids to the spotting platform at 25L for some late morning landings.

For the moment all arrivals and departures are on 25L with some airplanes backtracking... A couple of hours ago all on 25R... is there a reason?

As of 06.06. around 10, rwy 07R/25L was not anymore active (despite northeasterly winds which would make 01 the primary rwy for landings and 07R the primary rwy for takeoffs) due to maintenance. At the moment single rwy ops 01, probably until 1800LT today.

Edit: The works are a bit more complex, be prepared for frequent rwy changes today:

According to the Airport Mediator, there is a problem with the Brussels runways, the asphalt surface deteriorates too quickly, which explains why every day some runways are closed all day for repairs; the asphalt seems of lower quality.
