It was a great competition. :D
Unfortunately we've both earned less points. :( The best songs were in my opinion the ones of Malta and Albania. ;)

The funny thing was that the ones who gave comments were even saying that their points went to their neighbour countries.

'10 points go to our neighbour X and 12 points go to our neighbour Y'.

Does it actually make sense to keep on participating?

She did a nice job, I don't care about the points...

yes totally agree with you sabena_690, I think that its all becoma a political game between the eastern countries favouring eachother because musically from a objective point of view, belgium and holland deserved to be in the middle (10-20 or possibly top 10)

As I mentioned elsewhere, SN Brussels would have been much better inspired to sponsor Urban Trad last year. They at least got a brilliant second place after having had the lead for a long time.

And thanks to Xandee, we will have to go through the semifinals next year, whereas thanks to Urban trad, Xandee could go directly to the final.

Belgium has also a lot of neighbours too, I guess they just didn't like Xandee's song.

It's indeed sad to see that Xandee finished second last :( .

The song was not that bad (deserved to get more points), but there were other songs which were much better.

I found the one of Turkey ver funny and original :)

Oh Yeah .... pfff

Monaco:" And finally 12 points to ....... FRANCE" What a surprise

Andorra:"And finally 12 points to ...... SPAIN" pffff another surprise.

And the same goes on for all the eastern countries.

They urgently need another system of giving scores... Such a b*ll****... (sorry, but I'm 'a bit' disappointed...).

I also found that there were better songs than Xandee's, but she didn't deserve this... If 'originality' is a point to give scores, why don't we send some Chinese/japanese singers to Kiev to perform for Belgium? Well that would be 'original'... :-s

Anyway, luckily I had some friends over, and so there really was some amusement over here last evening...

... I forgot to thank Holland!!! ;-)

It's a matter of taste I think... personally I didn't really like their song, but that's eachothers opinion. It was a different kind of music of Urban Trad, and that's one of the main reasons why a lot of people felt 'attracted' to the song I think. Not really my style, but then again, who the f*ck am I ;)

And André, "thanks to Xandee we will have to go through the semifinals next year": with the excellent music that the Walloons seem to produce, this should be 'aucune problème'

Oh, and before I'm attacked for being anti the Walloons, my last posting was not at all a political one ;)

I hope that the Walloons and the Flemisch will organize the selections together in the future... The system of seperated participations of Flemisch and Walloon singers doesn't make much sense in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more with you :thumbsup2:

We are one country, and should be proud of having a flemish, wallon and german part.

André, it's not "thanks" to Xandee we will have to go through semifinals, it's because of the apparently bad taste for music, or no taste at all if you see wath the Russian "singer" got of points  , and some pattetic "good neighburs politics" from most of the European country's who has lead to this undiserved second last place
in fact it's disguesting to see how most of the country's voted, without any consideration for the quality of the song
Urban trad scored last year (totaly unexpected) with a song that had nothing to do with the others, some made a copy of it this year, Xandee's song was more a conservative, but good popsong and is in the same way as the winning song ; so it's clear that the potential voters for Xandee had to choose between Attila' daughter and oure Xandee, well we know who they remembered @ voting time thanks to the visual performance of Ukraine ( witch was verry good, at least it was no kind of stiptease act like some others ) but have you listen to the song without the visual yet ?? i have, and it sucks :!:
if Belgium participates next year to the semi-finals, we wil have to count on oure neighbure country's to give us some points (even if it's just a 5 like Holland, for what i thank them  ) ore whe don't even have to make the effort and expenses to send someone to that comedy.
personaly i would prefere that Belgium don't participate to that useles freekshow anymore, but i suppose the RTBF will find someone who is willing to be ridiculed to get some publicity
but remember :here's the jury of YYYY, oure 12 points go to oure beloved neighbur XXXX .........

to Avro : the Turks where maybe funny, but certenly not original ; 20 years ago a band called "Madness" did just the same act : THEY where original
maybe you heared about them ( they where verry poppular, one of my favorites :P ,) : ONE STEP BEHOND !!!!!!! tararaaa..tarararararaaaaa !!!!!!!!

Quite normal, even with televoting. Many artists are known in their neighbouring countries too (but is Xandee known in France, the Netherlands, ...?) so people there are more inclined to vote for that artist, since they are also famous in those countries. Furthermore some countries have large populations of neighbouring countries living there, and who do you think they will vote for? :) I don't mind it, it is normal, objectivety in such an occasion is impossible, or rather, inhuman.

I fully agree!

I love Madness 8) And i love the "ska" music, so i also liked the Turkish song (even though they weren't "original" in the real meaning of the word), for me they could have won (that or either Cyprus or Ukraine, but i'm obliged to say that i didn't listen to every song) Xandee... sorry, but that song has never been my favourite. Belgium has few "ska" groups, maybe we should send them next year

Greets everybody, keep on giving us nice music! The world needs it!

Pieter
