Airplane-tower communication question.

Hi guys,

I have a little question, when I play FS 2004, and I'm ready for take off I I (the computer) talks to the tower, and they always say: e.g.: Speed bird C9 heavy ready WITH QUEBEC ready for take off.

now my question is for what stands the "with quebec"? sometimes it's with november. Anyway I was pondering about this.

it stands for the apropriate ATIS.

an ATIS is an information message made by the tower, that contains usefull info for the pilots regarding runway usage, weather ....

Every once and a while (about once an hour), the ATIS gets an update (for example when the weather conditions change), and each update gets a letter (a = alpha, b = bravo .... z = zulu).

When the pilot contacts tower, he says "... with (information) alpha". This way the controller on the tower knows if the pilot has the latest ATIS or not. So if there would be a newer ATIS available, the controller will tell the pilot: "check info bravo". This way the pilot knows that there is an update to the alpha ATIS he previously requested.

The actual situation (windspeed/-direction, qnh,operational info such as rwy in use, taxyways closed....) of the airport is broadcasted and is called ATIS (don't rememeber where it stands for). The first report that is broadcasted gets letter A(lpha), and everytime this info is updated it gets the following letter of the alphabet.

just a little remark. The phonetic alphabet is in use which means B stands for bravo (and not beta)

ATIS stands for "automatic terminal information system" AFAIK.
