Who do you think (or hope) will win the Euro 2004 tournament?

I wish I could say "Belgium", but it is impossible: Belgium was not qualified.

Germany? (despite the recent 5-1 defeat in Romania - but in official competitions they have a lot of motivation!)

The various "Beckham fashions" the British public have had rammed down their throats have included the famous sarong (above), a plastic girl's hairband, pink nail varnish. I don't want to see such an effeminate jessie as a representation of my country.

It is a pity Belgium aren't in the tournament because I would have supported them without question - I did in the 2002 World Cup, we watched all the Belgium games that the BBC bothered to televise, and none of the England games (I was so happy when England lost to Brazil

)

I think Germany will be a threat, but not France, given their record at defending the World Cup (not scoring one goal in the last tournament!)

Spain never win anything - they have some of the top club teams in Europe but the national side never matches up to the success of the clubs.

Indeed, that's also my tought about it... If you see what quality the individual players have... fieuw, but in one team, they aren't fantastic! If Holland is smart engouh, they could win it... (I say IF they are...

The problem with the English media and the England football team is that the English media are under the impression that there is only one player in a football team, not eleven! They forget that football is a team game - so when they give away free England supporters posters for people to display in their windows, they only ever feature a picture of :censored: Beckham! What about the other 10 in the team? Don't they count? The only thing Beckham did in the last world cup was score a penalty, he didn't achieve anything by this superior skill everyone believes him to have. In the tournament before that he was sent off!

In some places, effigies of Beckham wearing a sarong were hung from lamp posts. They are so in everyone's faces and rammed down everyone's throat so much that they have the nerve to wonder why people are sick and tired of them and their poxy marriage!

I really hope that England lose out in Euro 2004 in the very early stages!

i think its gonna be: HOLLAND!!!!!
Dick Advocaat is the man!!!
with all the young (mainly ajax) talents, like van der Vaart, Heitinga, Sneijder, de Jong, Bouma and Robben, and the more experienced players like Zenden, Kluivert, MAkaay, Stam and of course Ruud van Nistelrooy, Holland will be a tough team to beat!!!
(btw jense, since when do you have to be smart to play footbal?)

Well I think that the all tiime classics who can't be neglected even if they don't play well right now (like André said) are Germany, Italy, England, Spain , France and Portugal.

All depends on their team spirit and motivation when it'll all begin. the first match is very crucial for this. They all have excellent individual players, but all those starts have a tendency to neglect the team as a whole.

I'll be supporting my favourite outsider : :kvole: Switzerland :kvole:

Interesting choice of team TriStar - I had never thought of Switzerland. Maybe you will be lucky, I remember a few years ago when Denmark were allowed into the tournament to replace Yugoslavia because of the civil war there, and Denmark went on to win. So if a team which didn't even qualify in the regular way can go on to win, then maybe Switzerland could be lucky!

As I said, I am going with Spain, you feel sorry for them when they never win anything and you would expect them to be one of the top winners. But please not England - don't subject the English people to a force-fed diet of Beckham, Beckham's wife, Beckham's kids, Beckham's move to wherever, Beckham's marriage, Beckham's nail varnish, Beckham's girly hair accessories, Beckham's frocks, Beckham's perfume - which we would get in all our media if England won this.

France - please, please, please, please, please beat England in their first ever match of the tournament

All the current newspaper coverage of Beckham is providing very good floor covering for my finches' cage. They are scoring more direct hits than Beckham ever has done

We are still hoping for a miracle that England will be out in the earliest stages

The latest thing to be inflicted on the English population by our media - Beckham's bloody bracelet! Who gives a :censored: what the world's biggest jessie is wearing on his stupid wrist?

Before the last World Cup, we had Beckham's broken foot bone rammed down our throats every time we opened a newspaper, or switched on the TV. My birds have got another Beckham photo on their cage floor today, but as yet they haven't scored their usual direct (and very accurate) hit!

I will be glad when England are knocked out of the tournament. It is overkill now, it will be hellish if they do well

Come on Spain!! (And please beat England - a message to France and Switzerland!)

For the past three days, the headlines in English newspapers have centred around Beckham's (:pukey:) tatoo, which he has on his silly neck. Who gives a :censored: what :censored: Beckham has drawn on him? This is considered as even more vital news than the airport tragedy in Paris, the upcoming rail strikes in the UK, the firefighters' strike or any other serious isues.

One thing, I can take my pick of pictures to use to line my finches' cage, and they are scoring some spectacular hits on Beckham's face, Beckham's neck and Beckham's wife

The rest of the country will be miserable when England are knocked out of Euro 2004, but in our flat we will be celebrating

Comet, you are right!!

I hope Spain win the Euro, but as you said, we have never won anything at all!!

Maybe it is bad luck, maybe it is the referees, maybe it is... maybe it is we are not good enough as a team.

But we need to wait and see Raul, Torres, Morientes and such another good players of our national team do.

We only hope to go to the next round and pass the quaterfinal which is when we always get kicked!!

Perhaps this year we are more motivated because of the royal marriage and win the Euro

There is more Beckham newspaper for my finches to sh*t on today. After a few days respite when the effeminate jessie was not in our newspapers, he is back with a vengeance! Now apparently he has been voted "World's Sexiest Man", presumably by some very short-sighted people who have absolutely no taste at all. Now there is a magazine which has a special issue devoted to the Beckham's fifth wedding anniversary (the wedding where those stupid tossers sat on thrones to receive their guests and wore matching outfits :pukey: :pukey: :pukey:).

It was on our TV news tonight that "everyone" is relieved that Beckham's ankle injury will not stop him playing in the Euro 2004 tournament. Now if England lose it will be because bloody Beckham was injured, and if they win it will be celebrated as a brilliant achievement because, let's face it, how could England possibly win without Beckham?

I am keeping my fingers crossed for a very early exit for England, anything to spare us from this effeminate jessie and his perfume, his hair bands, his pink nail varnish, his sarongs.

In their warm up game on Saturday, England thrashed Iceland, even though Beckham was taken off for an injection in his back at half time (yes, we were even given photos of the bloody jessie going off in the ambulance - if you need an ambulance in a genuine emergency, it can take them a couple of hours to arrive, but Beckham needs a bloody injection and one is there right away

) I cannot believe that England were able to win without the "mighty" Beckham being on the field - it must have been a massive stroke of luck!

In town today I decided to have a look at some posters with a view to having a nice one for the wall at home. All there was a choice of, apart from bimbos, was Orlando Bloom and bloody Beckham

Not what I had in mind at all, but then again this is England in the run up to a football tournament, so I shouldn't have been too surprised, should I
