Indeed for connecting passengers, but point-to-point passengers are ripped off on these routes.

Therefore, it would be interesting to know the split; moreover, maybe LCCs should have a close look at these 2 routes/opportunities for the ptp pax.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
We've got a winner!
Transavia flew in 2015 I think or maybe later from Munich to Brussels, with 3 flights per week if I remind well. They left BRU since. But frequency was really poor next to the +- 46 flights per week...

Frankfurt and Munich are no tourism destinations - contrary to Berlin. Point to point traffic thus is almost limited to a business clientele, and they don't like LCC's because they need flexible tickets. Hence LCC's abstain.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
I think they were planning to fly between the two cities... Don't think they did as they closed their Munich baseTLspotting wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 22:50We've got a winner!

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Transavia had scheduled twice-daily flights from a new base in Munich. I even booked a daily return with them. And then there was 22 March. The flights never took off and I was reimbursed. A few months later Transavia closed its Munich base. Difficult to compete with almighty Lufthansa.TLspotting wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 22:50

You're right, but when I mentioned the split, I meant connecting vs ptp in order to evaluate the size of the cake.
Some bold airline might be tempted to try and carve itself a good slice.

Brussels Airlines stopped flying to Sal in Cape Verde?
Also they seem to stop flying to Ohrid in North-Macedonia halfway august

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Sal, Cape Verde is a winter season destination only.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Normally the last flight to OHD is on the 26th of Augustsonic boom wrote: ↑25 May 2019, 09:14 Brussels Airlines stopped flying to Sal in Cape Verde?

But in the GDS I see indeed the last flight on the 16th of August.
BVC will be cancelled in winter and SID will be two times per week in winter 2019!

In an interview with Forbes, Carsten Spohr hints at maintaining a hub function for Brussels for intercontinental traffic: "With intercontinental hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Brussels, and Vienna, executives said they have a unique ability to drive connecting traffic via lower cost routings and also enable passengers to hop back and forth between North America and Europe with more routing options."
He also announced dynamic pricing for M&M Award Flights.

I think you are a bit overoptimistic here... The hub-remark wasn't a Carsten Spohr quote, but a reflection of the author. Everything LH has done so far hints at a no hub function for BRU and degrading it to just a destination, having EW planes flying customers to one of the groups hubs (FRA, MUC, ZRH and VIE).SkyTourist wrote: ↑25 May 2019, 12:04 In an interview with Forbes, Carsten Spohr hints at maintaining a hub function for Brussels for intercontinental traffic: "With intercontinental hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Brussels, and Vienna, executives said they have a unique ability to drive connecting traffic via lower cost routings and also enable passengers to hop back and forth between North America and Europe with more routing options."
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Not exactly: the flights to LH Group hubs are carried out by the network airlines, LH to FRA and MUC, LX to ZRH, OS to VIE.

Brussels Airport to welcome A320 OO-SNN, wearing Eurowings livery on Friday, around 15:00 local.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Actually, today Lufthansa Group posted a video of the group airlines on Linkedin, which in fact supports SkyTourist's theory. At minute 00:30 and 2:06, BRU is mentioned as one of the five hubs with FRA, MUC, ZRH and VIE being the others.Conti764 wrote: ↑27 May 2019, 11:10I think you are a bit overoptimistic here... Are we perhaps witnessing a glimpse of a strategy shift?
