Spotted a B737-200 today (30 Apr) :-)

Hello everybody,

Today was a lucky day for me ! I'm very happy that I was able to spot a B737-200 today! I'm now spotting since three years, and it's just my third -200 series.

G-CEAH from European Aircharter (EAL) visited Eindhoven this afternoon. It was built in 1975 and delivered to Sabena as OO-SDG.

Pïctures will follow within a couple of hours ...

Nice! but if you want your 737-200 count to go up, just go to Charleroi... All Dublin flight are still -200 I believe...

Bit Off-topic, but does anyone now what happened to EAL? They were on the news some time ago, that they fired everyone but 55 people, and where going to keep only a few 737-200's... Anyone an update?

Not long anymore ... Ryanair is replacing all its -200's by new -800's !

Bit Off-topic, but does anyone now what happened to EAL? They were on the news some time ago, that they fired everyone but 55 people, and where going to keep only a few 737-200's... Anyone an update?

The only thing I've heared is that they are in big financial problems, that they have dropped the plans to replace the -200's by -300's, and that their B747's are currently grounded.

Bournemouth-based European Aviation Air Charter lost lucrative long-haul contracts to US rival Air Atlanta Icelandic.
The Minardi group (owner of both the Formula 1 Team and the carrier) proposed to sell the airline to customer Bath Travel Group but the deal fell through.
At the moment, EAAC still operates a reduced fleet of Boeing 737-200s (including two planes in the colours of Bath-Travel-owned Palmair).

In the past, European Air Charter was owned by the chairman of the Minardi Group, Paul Stoddart. Hasn't he sold EAAC recently?

So...

Ryanair is still flying -200s on CRL-DUB? At least the one that made the emergency landing few days back was a B732, but I was wondering if they are using that a/c type a lot on that route.

In the latest issue of 'Airliner World' (May 2004) Stoddart is still referred to as owner.

Ryanair has kept all of their 737-200's based at Dublin, and all DUB-CRL traffic is still 737-200 I think... They are replacing them, but they won't be gone for a year or so I believe.
Maybe nice to spot, but the inside really reminds you that you payed 25 euros return... Those where te worst seats EVER! They were completely 'verzakt'... (still, you can't complain for 25 euro) The 737-800 is a nice plane though, nice seats & beter pitch.

now back to the original topic ! I believe Aviacsa in Mexico are still flying 737-219's Air New Zealand originals, so if ever you go to Mexico you might see some 737-200's there

It's a very nice plane, with cute engines which produce some great music when on T/O

In addition to that the reversers are also great when deploying, the cockpit is still one of the old generation with many analouge gauges. The -200 was also the version which made the 737 so popular.

As far as I remember, the last FR B732 will not leave before 2005/2006.

They are mostly put on DUB-UK flights.
