Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures

The number of pax, in %, during March was again the highest one for Brussels Airlines for the whole LH Group. SN saw an increase of more than 15%!!!!!! while Eurowings had a drop of more than 2%

I'm afraid that the real figures are less buoyant:

Pax: 767,053 (-1.4%, due to bmi bankruptcy and strikes at skeyes and in Italy)
LF: 79.2% (-0.3%)

For Brussels Airport, the figures (published elsewhere) were:

Pax: 1,999,343 (+1.9%)

Thus, for the first time since many months, the market share of SN at BRU has decreased.

A (partial) explanation for the lower LF could be the use of bigger planes to Bromma:
all other things remaining equal, an additional 40 seats per flight X 3 flights per day X 2 (return) X (about) 1250 km X 31 days make an additional 9.3 million ASK, i.e., on the March 2018 ASK of 1661715000, an increase of 0.56%.

Thank you for the update on the operational figures of Brussels Airlines alone, André.
Always interesting to sense the pulse on a more detailed basis than what is communicated by Lufthansa.
Careful with comparing them to those of Eurowings however, as in fact their own result is consolidated into those numbers too! In other words, you are comparing them with (in part) themselves!
Although in this particular case, it's making the difference less pronounced than it should be as they are the ones pulling Eurowings own performance up (and by a fair bit even, given they are about 1/3rd of the combined production).

Who says Brussels Airlines is losing money? The first quarter was negative, but last time I saw Christina Foerster, she said she hoped to end the year with black figures.

On the other hand, Eurowings expects a negative EBIT of -4% to -6%.

I don"t think there is a magic number for LF. Profitability depends on so many more factors.
Regarding the May figures, with an increase of 5.2% in pax number, the lower LF obviously comes from a higher offer as pointed out by "flightlover" hereabove.

In May, Brussels Airport welcomed nearly 2.3 million passengers, slightly up by 0.7% on May 2018. Cargo transport fell sharply by 11% compared to the same month last year. These results were impacted by the various strikes both in Belgium and abroad.

Since Lufthansa has recently reviewed financial guidance for the full year, it could be a highly valuable tool to see if they are part of the problem at eurowings or whether they are in fact a glimmer of hope, even though they are of course the results of last year, but still: we have those of Eurowings too, so you can easily compare them one-to-one and then extrapolate the finding to get a rough idea of where they're standing.
