Why is that?
Don't ask me, ask the management!
But it might well be because they need some cash.

It's only 12 return flights till end December, but these + the daily BA ones to DXB should make them survive through winter. And I assume they're looking for more.
Good luck!

Has a Chinese Tour Operator finally been found? Does anybody know that there are Charleroi Hong Kong flights as of March 31st? Who knows Air Belgium apart from a few Belgians? I remain skeptical, the track has not taken a centimeter and there will be no cargo ...Hummm !

I don't know but the €4 mln load makes easier things to conclude an agreement.

Hong Kong and Zhengzhou are still going to be (re)opened in April 2019 or May 2019, as Zhengzhou is still for "Spring 2019".

Air Belgium is known now from spotters, some travellers, and maybe asiatic tourists. Air Belgium need time to develop itself, but with strategy, they can really improve their "image".

There's no cargo due to runway length at CRL. And even a complete A343F doesn't exist.

Yes indeed, PZ-TCZ was already in maintenance at HAM some months ago.

Yes it is quite good as AB is going to fly again with 3 aircraft at the same time.

As far as I know AB is not operating any cheaper than for example Wamos is

Edit: pricing any cheaper is better than “operating”

Are there more or less established rates and terms for ACMI contracts? Cost+? Or just market?

As of today AB is also distributed via Travelport. All Travel Agents will now be able to book tickets through Galileo, Worldspan and Appolo 🙂👍 ✈️ #airbelgium #travel #agents #bookings #travelagencies #worldspan #galileo #appolo #travelport
Should boost sales I hope...

The new European travel legislation, effective 01/07/2018, increases the liability for travel agents when something goes wrong with a combined package (example: flight cancelled).

On top, the new legislation forbits a waiver that some travel agents applied before, for bookings with Ryanair (kind of "...we, the passengers, will not hold the travel agent responsible when Ryanair disregards the passengers' rights...").

So basicly, the travel trade needs a guarantuee from Air Belgium that all recents press articles are untrue.

Air Belgium has been awarded a foreign air carrier permit from US regulators, as no objections were filed in the allotted time.

That means that Air Belgium is allowed to operate commercial flights to/from the US.

A Vamos 747-400 took over from Air Belgium's A340-300. Seating capacity? SLM's own A343 has 12C + 303Y.

Or much overdue payments by Surinam airways towards AB?

It might be only temporary. On 26 December, it will be an A343; their own or AB's?
Apparently, the Vamos 747 did only 1 return flight so far, leaving AMS on 16th and landing back on the 18th, with a day off in PBM (crew rest issue?).

Imo Air Belgium has to stop closing their eyes and needs to face reality. There are only few markets out of Belgium that can be lucrative.
First of all, they need to talk to MOL to secure feeding.
Second of all, they need to look at (seasonal) long haul destinations where they can make money.

During this year's extended golden week, economy class tickets Japan-Europe are going for above 2000 EUR return.
They should be on the phone with H.I.S. selling tickets this very minute and use the opportunity to launch a seasonal service for the entire summer. From BRU or CRL, who cares? To HND or NRT, who cares? With or without a JL or NH codeshare, who cares?
Follow the money, not the shadow of potential money.

Greater Tokyo is a population of 40 million, number 1 of the world in terms of population and income.
Forget routes to rural China.
3 x A340's would give them the ability to operate twice daily with a better hard product than NH.
In the winter they can reduce frequencies to 3 weekly and do maintenance and/or charters.

ABA is flying for BA.
ABB is heading back to CRL from DXB after a VBV problem on an engine.
ABD is flying at OST.
ABE is at CRL, waiting for flights on Monday and Wednesday.

Maybe a bit off topic: Surinam Airways own A340-300 PZ-TCR is expected to fly from Hahn to Amsterdam Schiphol any moment now, after maintenance at HHN.

They arrived within the 261/2004 margin, which is 4 hours for a flight of + 3.500 kms...

Scheduled arrival time: 19h45
Actual arrival time (FR24): 23h01
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/py993

That gave them 44 minutes to taxi to the gate and to open one door. It's the "door open" time, registered by the captain or by the ground handler, that matters for "arrival time".
This is not true at all.

For a flight with a distance of 3500 kilometers or more and a flight delay of between three and four hours, you are entitled to 50% of the reimbursement. After 4 hours is a 100% reimbursement.
You can claim 100%, the Airline may reduce it with 50%! But you have to ask 100%,

Code: Select all

was successful in a claim against Eurowings for me in this case.
