Thanks André for that interesting news: B737-300SP
It's seems to be a good improvment for the B737 classic family. I've allready searched, but couldn't find any pictures of that aircraft yet , hope we'll get one soon.
Does someone know which airlines plan to retrofit their planes with those blended winglets I really hope VEX and SLR will do so, they could save a lot of money.
The blended winglets look absolutely horrid, looks like Uri Geller has been at the end of the wing and done one of his bending tricks on it. They don't look right on the 737s, and by that I mean all winglets, not just the blended type.
Sorry Comet but I totally disagree. I think that winglet equipped 737's look great although I am not really a fan of the 737 from a flying(passenger) point of view, much prefering the A320 series.

I agree with you about the winglet thing, but I must say that from a spotter point of view the B737 is much nicer than the Airbus A320 family. Look at those engines, the shape is just wonderfull
I think I must be the only person who does not like these winglets, I asked this question on another forum last week, and everyone else disagreed with me. I do prefer the winglets on the 747-400, the 747 series looks better with them, but I don't think they look as good on a smaller aircraft.
Comet, you are not the only one. I agree with you. Winglets look great on the MD-11, but are hideous on the 737. Airbus has a much nicer design for the end of the wing of the A320 family than Boeing for its 737.
It is really nice to see that they are using winglets on the classical 737 from now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is ONE excellent plane in the world, that's the 737 !!!!!! Who wouldn't like flying this plane ???
And indeed , Comet , you are the only one in the world who doesn't like winglets on a 737 8O
The only winglets that look nice r the one fitted on the 320 family.
All other ones look like "dog-ears". Especially the 737's winglets r on top of this bad show.
And the Russians copy it with their IL96 & Tu204 .
My (aesthetic) point of view folks .
Just give me a clean wing like comet & other first generation jets .
Comet, the picture you selected shows a Comet in BEA colours. I thought that they were all operated by BOAC.
No Andre, the only British airline with the Comet 1 was BOAC, but the Comet 4 had three variants - the 4, the 4B and the 4C. The Comet 4 had long range wings equipped with fuel tanks and was operated by many overseas airlines (MEA and Aerolineas Argentinas being two examples). The Comet 4B (Continental Comet) had an increased fuselage length with shorter wings, this variant was operated by BEA. The Comet 4C combined the Comet 4B's longer fuselage with the long range, fuel tank-equipped wings of the Comet 4.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.
