If a first plane arrives, I guess it will bring certification if they need oneTLspotting wrote: ↑15 Feb 2018, 22:24 Just had the info,a friend asked AB, and the first A343 will arrive at CRL on Friday 23 February ! But not in AB livery, only white.
Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
They can have planes without an AOC. You don't need an AOC to lease/own/rent a plane, you need an AOC for commercial operations with the aircrafts. If they have licensed pilots they can even take them out for a spin as long as they don't operate them commercially. Besides most leasing companies a "Belgian" company comes to mind. SHS Aviation had several F-50's registered under their name without having any AOC's. It's actually not much different than buying and registering a car without having a drivers license. The only thing needed (besides all the paperwork) is a valid insurance.
It might be a tactic from AB to put the BCAA on additional pressure to grant them their AOC. Like saying, hey look, we have the planes, we have the people, we have everything in place, everything is OK from our side now give us our fucking paperwork. It might work but it can have a greater chance to backfire. We'll have to just wait and see.
The fact that the plane will be delivered without a livery does seem to apply that AB isn't to confident that it will succeed.
Anyway, wait and see is the only thing we can do.

Thank you for these clarifications. I was just a little sarcastic, as often I admit. It's a bit like saying in French "mettre la charrue avant les boeufs".Bralo20 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2018, 13:02They can have planes without an AOC. Or perhaps it indicates they're in a hurry to get operations going, considering outward show secondary? The fact that the plane will be delivered without a livery does seem to apply that AB isn't to confident that it will succeed.
Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Seems that approximately 2 years of time isn't enough to get an airplane paintedjan_olieslagers wrote: ↑16 Feb 2018, 13:35 Or perhaps it indicates they're in a hurry to get operations going, considering outward show secondary?
Anyway, I'm glad they didn't paint it due to the incorrect order of colours
Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
The first two A340-313 aircraft of Air Belgium have got their Belgian registration (OO-ABA and -ABB) as of today, 16 February. Both were built in 2007. And they also seem to have a Cessna 401 (but that might be a bug: it belongs to ServisAIR BELGIUM), as shown by this screenprint from the FPS Mobility...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Cessna isn't Air Belgium, but Servisair Belgium
Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Nice find!
The Belgian register is booming with A340 as of lately, it seems.
Never thought I'd live to see one on it after the bankruptcy of Sabena, and now we have 4!
As to that Cessna: are you sure it's theirs?
It could just be an entry on the same print screen, yet by somebody completely unrelated?

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
No, the Cessna belongs to Servisair Belgium, but when you ask for Air Belgium in the register, it gives every company with the letters "Air Belgium", thus also "ServisAIR BELGIUM".

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
So when can we expect the first plane in full livery?
Still think it's a pity they chose for Charleroi, it makes them a second class airline... Can you imagine Cathay Pacific choosing CRL? Ofcourse not, they fly to the premium airport.

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Charleroi used to be considered as a second class airport, but year after year it's becoming less the case anymore, there are more and more airlines establishing flight out there.
For us, Belgian, CRL is the airport of Charleroi, but for people overseas, this is another airport of Brussels.

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
Take a look at this: this is the new "terminal" (lol) of Charleroi. It looks like a hangar!
I guess this image will not be in the Air Belgium brochures!
Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
just the usual WIZZ, Pegasus, Ryanair Air Corsica and Jetair who expand their offer now and then . Nothing new (apart from Belavia) but it's good for the people living nearby not having to drive to BRUcrew1990 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2018, 15:46 Charleroi used to be considered as a second class airport, but year after year it's becoming less the case anymore, there are more and more airlines establishing flight out there.

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
And our Chinese friends will arrive from the "hangar" on the Charleroi mini ring and go to a hotel in Marcinelle ... for their first trip to Europe ... what a prospect! Sorry, I could not resist! And I know it's not really "friendly". Good luck for all who will work for this new company in "white" livery...

You prefer the "new" OST Terminal ?
Normally, this kind of flight should be for T1 and not T2..
BTW, the first and biz passengers will be in the general aviation terminal (to be refurbished)
And, I invite you to revise your geography ...... no ring, no Marcinelle between CRL and Brussels, Namur, Antwerp, Gent, Brugge.....

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
It's the same administration, the BCAA, that delivers the registrations and the AOCs. One can hope that their people speak to each other.Bruspotter wrote: ↑16 Feb 2018, 20:32
