It would even be better if people would stop acting like waiting by a baggage belt for 15min is the same as the world coming to an end

15 minutes? In Brussels? When it's Swissport, more like 30 minutes... and then you miss your train, so that becomes an hour because they've put your trolley in the hold. In the evening that's pretty frustrating.

My thoughts exactly. I do not like the principle of needing to pay to bring my carry-on on-board. Nor the principle of paying to sit next to my partner. This is another reason for me to continue to avoid Ryanair.

Concerning the fact that hand luggage is sometimes taken off you, and not handed back at the plane by some airlines, what I find the most annoying about their procedure is not the fact you (may) have to wait a few minutes at the belt, but the fact that hand luggage is more fragile and often less robust than a hard suitcase.
I don't mind a few scratches on a hardcase, but I hate it when I get my hand luggage back with a hook torn in its fabric. A delivery service at the aircraft's door is perfectly fine for me however: I don't need to physically sit right on (or under) my hand luggage throughout the trip.

Abstract :
Ryanair has agreed to recognise pilot unions for the first time in its 32-year history in a bid to stop the first pilot strike in its history from taking place.

In a statement, Ryanair said it has written to the pilot unions in Ireland, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

It had invited each of them to talks to recognise these unions as the representative body for pilots in Ryanair in each of these countries.

"Ryanair will now change its long standing policy of not recognising unions in order to avoid any threat of disruption to its customers and its flights from pilot unions during Christmas week," the statement said.


"Recognising unions will be a significant change for Ryanair, but we have delivered radical change before," Mr O'Leary said.

Long way before it really happens methinks but for sure necessary to avoid the major disruption ahead.

Agreed André but the house is on fire.
By all means RYR must prevent those multiple strikes so the present step is just that : fire fighting.
I see this as the minimum move to possibly avoid the imminent strikes ("come on and let's talk"), while MoL hopes it to be the max he will have to give.
Interesting times ahead.

Don't fall into FR's trap !
They is only inviting pilots to TALKS about recognising their union(s) !!! And not before Wednesday, when strikes would be held. FR is just trying to avoid major disruptions during the holiday season. In the end, they will say they could not come to an agreement with the pilots about recognising a union and the holiday season will be over and the "low" January and February months will be there with a lot less impact for any possible union action.
Don't get fooled !

Ryanair says it wants to talk to the unions in these 5 countries, obviously because they were busy organizing a strike. I wonder if the solidarity between FR pilots will be limited to their country borders. And what about union representation for cabin crew?

And also from the same article, and very important: ...Ryanair shares closed down over 8% in Dublin trade yesterday...
There was already a 4,5% drop a few days earlier, so large investors won't accept a third drop on Monday. I'm pretty sure that Ryanair will announce before Monday morning that management was able to modify their agenda, so they will meet the unions on Tuesday...
