Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Two aircraft and 160 pilots, is that a normal ratio? I'd think that makes an excess in pilots at Brussels Airlines, unless they'll add more flights (and more aircraft) soon.
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
It's 160 pilots and cabin crew! But don't forget SN is still expanding. Instead of hiring new flight crew, they'll use the staff coming from TCAB.

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Two aircraft is not enough to completely take-over the flights of TCAB, but SN has room in it's own fleet to further increase utilisation (mainly in the weekends, July/August and winter season). Demand is just not there during those periods for SN to use the aircraft on their own network. By increasing the number of seasonal (leisure) routes and reacting better to seasonality on year-round routes, as well as operating an increasing number of charters, SN already significantly increased the fleet utilisation, but further improvement is still possible. For that they don't need additional aircraft, but they do need the crew. So that's why they can take over all the flight crew, but don't need all the aircraft.
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Goodbye TCB.
Still remember you operating from OST with your own aircraft.
Some flights with others such as Viking, Air Tunesie, etc
Mostly full but sometimes only with a coach full due to the "unpopular times" flying from OST.
You were the first to show the approach via the intern tv's(nose view).
Hope to see a revival as with TUI and Brussels there aren't enough Belgian airlines.

FYI
TCAB has significantly more than 160 pilots and cabin crew members on the payroll. What we were not told is that only full time equivalents were mentioned in the press release. Temporary contracts and crew with a part time arrangement seem to have been "forgotten".
In the next couple of months, when negotiations will start and most likely unions get involved, expect to see some other numbers pop up. Wondering for example how HQ seniority will be integrated in SN. A lot of crew are concerned, as we all know how a strong unionized airline works in these cases. Think Virgin and SN Brussels.
As for ground staff, most positions will unfortunately become obsolete.

Thomas Cook Airline Belgium is in the process to return two A320s on lease soon, as technical aspects are being prepared.

- Thomas Cook Belgium intends to use Brussels Airlines for the majority of its flight requirements
- All 160 pilots and cabin crew, all flight slots, and two aircraft of Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium expected to transfer to Brussels Airlines on completion
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
When is the very last FQ flight from Brussels? (of course in Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium colours)
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
That should be on Saturday 28 October, last day of the Summer season. But during a transition time afterwards, some aircraft in TCAB colours could operate some flights for SN.SLM wrote: 03 Sep 2017, 08:32 When is the very last FQ flight from Brussels? Meanwhile I'll have my last TCAB flight next Tuesday

I don't think so... Both TCH and TCV will be painted in SN colours before they enter service. However, the interior will remain as is for the time being...CTBke wrote: 03 Sep 2017, 11:04will be confusing for the passengers.. boarding a brussels airlines flight on a Thomas Cook plane but maybe they'll try to use them as much as possible for HQ charter flightssn26567 wrote: 03 Sep 2017, 09:10That should be on Saturday 28 October, last day of the Summer season. Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
SHS, that's VLM? So VLM has an AOC now? So they can take over the ANR-LCY route
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
The Belgian Competition Authority still has to approve the deal between Brussels Airlines and Thomas Cook. Probably just a formality, but you never know...
Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Concerning the AOC for SHS/VLM: they had to file another AOC-demand to use the A320's of Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium. The SPF Mobility promised that that procedure would go quicker than the one to fly the Fokkers...

A320's of TCAB? The 5 remaining are going to Brussels and Condor so which A320 do they wanna use?

Re: Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium in 2017
Correct remark. As I understood, their first AOC-demand concerns only Fokker-planes.
By acquiring the AOC of TCAB (for which they have to file a second demand) they would be able to fly with A320's in the future too. "It is not a secret that we don't want to fly only with the Fokkers of the previous VLM, but also with bigger planes", a spokesperson said in March, when they announced the deal with TCAB.
I suppose those planes will be leased then...
