SNBA repaint job

Post by kotszakje »

hi all,

as I am sure everyone already nows from that other forum (http://www.airliners.net/discussions/ge ... n/1125875/), SN BA's Avro OO-DJK will be getting the new SN BA livery over the weekend. this will be done at QAPS in the Netherlands.

On the news page of their site (http://www.qaps.nl) there are already some pictures of an Avro stripped down and ready for the paint job. It's hard to tell if those pictures are really OO-DJK. maybe someone recognizes it?

but it would be interesting to see if qaps will upload other pictures as work progresses, just to give us a sneak preview of the final livery. let's wait and see... 8)

regards,
fred

I thought SNBA would put the new paint scheme on there aircrafts only when they needed their D-checks (it costs less).

But then I saw on the painting schedule:
First Aircraft: 00-DJK (13/7 return to EBBR)
Second Aircraft: 00-DJL (20/7)
Third Aircraft: 00-DJN (27/7)
Fourth aircraft: 00-DWD (03/8 )
Fifth aircraft: 00-DWK (10/8 )
Sixth aircraft: 00-DWL

That they won't do the progressive painting of there fleet, but that they started to repaint many aircrafts immediately.
Why have they changed their mind :?: Why are they wasting more money :?:

Anyway, I'll certainly be there on the 13th of july to watch OO-DJK in the new c/s

It's DWL and it's C-checks. We don't perform D's by the time it needs a D-check its long gone and flying for someone else.

Agree with Chris. Initially, when SN BA arose on the ashes of Sabena, the colour scheme was chosen to minimise the paint job and the costs. And now suddenly there is a lot of money (from the rent of a BAe146 to Malmö Aviation?) to repaint half of the fleet?

I can't believe it.

Hey Fred, not everybody can afford to pay the high fees asked by A.net to participate in their forum.

So, thanks for the info!

Well, at least they are not starting by repainting the ones that already have the intermediate livery (cfr. the one on the A330's, long blue tail), because that would really have been a waste of money.

I suppose these avro's are those still with the dat-livery but with SNBA titles. does anyone know if they really need a paint job? Are they still in good condition or is the paint worn off quite badly?

Hmmmm
I have to say that for certain aircraft it was time for a paintjob. So actualy it's not a real waste of money because al aircraft are being painted as planned. We just waisted money for about eight other aircraft that are in the first SNBA livery. And one of the 330 has to go in for a big check so if its a D-check it wil also end up in the new livery. But I don't know the exact date when it will go in for the maintenance.

Greetings

Yeah, Hope this formum will remain free of charges, right Bart

This is how those avro's look like today:

OO-DJK
OO-DJL
OO-DJN
OO-DWD
OO-DWK
OO-DWL
You were right Fred, but I still think this is wasn't the time to start to rapint many aircrafts. SN should try to get profitable with that money

Avro has decidedly an encyclopaedical knowledge about Avro's. My question is: what was OO-DWL doing in Maastricht on 7 June 2003?

André,

I have see a picture of a Snba aircraft in Maastricht, but I do not remember the website, and it was there on a charter flight to Lourdes.

I've got another question. Can someone tell me which are the first avro's to leave the fleet?? because it wouldn't be a good idea either to repaint aircrafts that will leave your fleet in a bit more than 1 year. :?

What I find strange is that it seems that OO-DJQ isn't scheduled yet (or so it seems) even with its horrible blue belly.
maybe it's meant that way so we could all fondly remember our days as part of the qualifier group

I don't understand the  after Qualiflyer. It was one of the best fidelity programmes in the world. My wife has accompanied me in business class to several transatlantic destinations on Sabena and Swissair tanks to the miles I had accumulated.

And SN BA is not the only airline that still has a blue belly on some planes. See a Swiss MD-11, an Air Europe A320, and of course SN BA's Avro RJ 85.

It seems that finally SN Brussels Airlines is written in larger, more visible fonts. And under the wing, by lack of space on the Avro fuselage.

I don't understand why they keep on putting the SN on it. The color is starting to get lighter and lighter. If it keeps on going in this rate they can peet it in invisible painting within a couple of years.

You're right about the colour of SN, Fiero. The SN should be kept in clear, visible, bold letters. After all, it is the legacy of Sabena and still the code for all Brussels Airlines' flights.

In my opinion it would have been better if they had painted the front of the nose like the rest of the rest, and put the SN letters in dark blue.
