Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker bashes President Donald Trump for backing the blockade of Qatar by other Arab countries. Previously he was very unsatisfied with Airbus about delays. Now he probably is mad with Boeing as well...

Qatar Airways was barred from Somaliland airspace, as the country sides with the Saudi-led coalition against Qatar.

I do not agree with your posts:b720 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2017, 11:04 I agree!
Dictatorships... and supporters of terror...ME3 are not private companies, but those diactatorahips' visiting cards.. we should avoid them.. had they bee privately owned, that would have been different... we are not boycotting UA because we do not like Trump!
1. Politics has no place in this forum
2. I have lived in the Emirates for 3 years and I do not recognize the portrait you have of this country.
3. I travel regularly with EY. I can assure you that this is a quality company with competent crews. Many pilots are Belgian… They were very happy to be hired after the bankruptcy of SN
4. I did not see anyone shocked on this forum when EY became a shareholder of AZ, AB…
5. It did not shock anyone (myself included) to travel with SN or AF when the state injected mass of public money. They were also business cards of our countries.
Re: June 2017 Gulf crisis: The World vs Qatar
ICAO will broker a meeting between Qatar aviation officials and counterparts from Arab countries, as the Gulf nation tries to regain air rights and mitigate the economic fallout of the crisis.

Well then your eyea were wide shut for 3 years!
I did not say that ME3 were not quality airlines, I just said that they are 100 pct owned by their governments!
This governments, along with Saudi Arabia and Bahrain .. are dictatorships! And they have been supporting terror in the Middle East and beyond! Kuwait, and Oman are exceptions in the GCC. I for one refuse to support those governments; therefore I boycott their airlines. Very simple.. when owners of AF and Lh start killing their own people (Bahrain) or bombing neighbours (Yemen) or supporting terror... I will not fly with AF or Lh either.. but that Si not the case. Can t compare apples to oranges...

Re: June 2017 Gulf crisis: The World vs Qatar
How do you propose to discuss an airspace ban without discussing politics? The whole airspace is ban is purely political on itself. I think what you mean is: "political opinions I don't like have no place on this forum". But that isn't a reasonable stance.
Regardless of your impression of the UAE, that they are dictatorships isn't up for debate but a fact.2. I have lived in the Emirates for 3 years and I do not recognize the portrait you have of this country.
I definitely believe those pilots are happy, but they have no morals if they are willing to support unethical regimes for a bit of money.3. I travel regularly with EY. @Jetter: Erst kommt das Fressen, dann kommt die Moral! Hasn't changed since it was first said, and won't change soon - if ever.

I think you confuse, like many, with SAU.
It may not be a European-style democracy. But compared to other Arab countries, including North Africa, they go in the right direction.
There is no religious extemism:
Women can walk bareheaded and in mini-skirts, bikiny is allowed on beaches, pork is sold, alcohol is sold, alcohol can be brought (airport) in in reasonable quantities ( Belgium = 01 liters), etc ...
There are churches.
The rules governing the employment of foreign labor are highly regulated (salary, housing, health care, etc.) not as QAT.
And this is not an impression but a fact!
I will not answer more to posts from people who have never lived there because it would make no sense.
I prefer to follow with interest the posts related to our passion which is the world of the aviation (including QA)

U can wear a bikini and eat pork in North Korea!
That is the new barometer of democracy?
Iran is by far more democratic than the UAE or Saudi
Kuwait has a fun yoking parliament that is actually elected.. UAE Saudi and Qatar are dictatorships..
and they have been financing nusra and Isis in Syria and Iraq..

You are right of course. Although such political events always have some influence on aviation: routes, bans, overfly rights, etc.Boeing767copilot wrote: ↑18 Jun 2017, 15:10What has this to do with aviationb720 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2017, 14:24 U can wear a bikini and eat pork in North Korea!
