Some interesting bits and pieces from a press release by Ralf Teckentrup (CCO):

Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia and Condor are adding new destinations to their summer networks. Some 'interesting' ones from Germany include San Diego, New Orleans and Pittsburgh.

Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium will not offer new destinations, and will most likely position one aircraft to either Hamburg, Düsseldorf or Leipzig to assist Condor during summer operations.

-

Meanwhile, 4 'active' A320s are still spending most of their days either sitting on a remote stand at BRU, or serving a handful of destinations: TFS, LPA and SID/BVC.

OO-TCX is no longer to be used and will be returned to Condor / storage.

Let me just say it's first hand information, not just a rumor or random gossip.

Check out the weather in ACE and you will know the reason ;)
But also not a good day for JAF

0910 TB601 ATD 1132
1010 TB623 ATD 1314

And my point is: both are weather wise (TCAB & JAF delays/diversions)

I am sure they will handle it better as some JAF delays (like i have read here often before on Luchtzak)
And if not please feel free to share it! So I can change my opinion ;)
All my posted timings are local !

OOTCX seems to be planned for flights in May... so when will the a/c leave? Just prior to the high season for TCAB?

Lanzarote is a very windy island. That kind of diversions happens more. I was myself diverted from ACE to FUE two years ago, on a JAF flight! With a free night in Fuerteventura instead of a paid night in Lanzarote.

Thomas Cook to resume Tunisia flights

Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium has announced that it will resume flights from Belgium to holiday destinations in Tunisia on April 8, following a relaxing of travel advice to the Mediterranean North African country. The holiday specialist will start by offering a weekly service to Enfidha on the eastern coast.

Flights were suspended in mid-2015 following terrorist attacks at resorts near Sousse in which 38 people, mostly British tourists, were killed. A report in the Guardian last year found that tourist numbers from Europe to Tunisia have declined by 58% since the terror attacks. The tourism sector makes up around 15% of the country's GDP.

The announcement that flights would resume comes after travel advice from Belgium's foreign ministry was slightly eased this week. The advice now cautiously states that "travellers can go to Tunis, on the Mahdia-Monastir-Sousse-Hammamet-Nabeul-Tunis-Bizerte coastline" although the rest of the country remains at "only travel if necessary" in most areas and the western borders remain as "do not travel".

Aircraft was under heavy maintenance in BRU and will be transferred to Condor as stated in a previous post for the summer season. Most likely it will be based in HAJ for DE flights. TCAB crew are planned to operate these flights.

Sister company Condor (Germany) reports 2016 operating loss of US$14.7million on revenues of $1.4 billion, with 6% drop in pax numbers. Carrier launched a cost saving program to reduce operating costs by $42 million a year. Condor is also aiming for millions in synergies from closer cooperation with the four Thomas Cook Group airlines, thus also with TCAB. Total of 200 jobs to be cut through 2018.

Because of this, heads have already rolled in the board of directors. MoB T. Gause was fired and P. Schwaiger has taken his position as of February 2017.

Curious to see what will happen at TCAB once the balance sheet of 2016 is published :!:

Hi!

My parents are travelling with TCAB to Ohrid, Macedonia at the end of July. They just received a mail to inform that the flight will be operated by Air Baltic.

Is there any leasing planned by TC for this summer?

Yes, due to the limited number of aircraft in the fleet, there will be a substantial amount of flights operated by third party airlines such as Brussels Airlines, Air Baltic, Small Planet Airlines and depending on the number of bookings for Tunisia, Nouvelair.

In an article available only to subscribers, ch-aviation says: "Thomas Cook Belgium to lease in B737 capacity this summer".

Does anyone have more details?
