And FR-7327 Prague-Dublin, expected to land in Dublin at exactly the same time as FR-9431, diverted to Liverpool:

Another diversion today. KLM flight KL713, Amsterdam-Paramaribo (Boeing 747-400 reg. PH-BFB), diverted to Lajes (Azores) a short while ago. Flightradar24 is awaiting info from KLM on nature of diversion (and so do we).

A former strange diversion that just came to light: on 16 December, LH441 Houston-Frankfurt (A388 reg. D-AIMI) was cancelled for technical reasons). The aircraft was due to be ferried from Houston back to FRA as LH9924 on 19 December, but it diverted to Manchester due to crew hours. And it remained there a little longer than foreseen due to the deployment of a slide!

Technical defect on one of the doors of this A380. But why go back as far as London, and with a detour?

I can understand that, if the aircraft would have to be grounded, it would be easier for the airline to have an A380 as replacement at LHR, and not at FRA, VIE or ZRH. Or at AMS, as the routing seems to suggest they thinked to divert to Amsterdam.

"...The airline reported a door was leaking, the noise and vibrations from the door were no risk however. In the interest of the passengers the crew decided to return to Heathrow. The door was tightened in consultation with Airbus and licensing authorities, and the aircraft departed again... The occurrence aircraft departed again after about 5:45 hours on the ground in London and is estimated to reach Kuala Lumpur with a total delay of 10 hours..."

The funniest reason for a diversion

An Open Skies Boeing 767-300 on behalf of British Airways, registration F-HILU performing flight BA-8004 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Paris Orly (France) on 26 December 2016 with 172 people on board, was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean when all toilets failed. The crew decided to divert to Shannon (Ireland) to provide the passengers with an opportunity to take a toilet break. :D :o
