Are you talking of Brussels Airlines? Didn't see this news yet...
Any other new routes? I remember tolipanebas giving a hint they weren't done yet with their new routes for next season when he listed the first batch of additional dots on the map, including Yerevan.

Yes he is....
PMI will be served as from the end of March indeed. ;)

Yes, there is more to come still. :silent:

Hi all,

In the last inflight magazine East-Midlands is indicated as a SN destination (blue dot on the map) :D ... Mistake or one of the new destinations still to be announced? I saw that flights from BM are not codeshared or am I mistaken?

The Lourdes dot disappeared however ... Not that I would ever go there, but still ...

My heart is bleeding when I see those maps: many dots are simply at the wrong place :( :? Comiso for example and Nantes (sorry, I am geographer/geo-ICT expert :D ). I think they put the dots by hand ...

Cheers,
Danny

Its belgian ego's wanting to fly to as many (low yield) destinations FR flies to, when they could in fact spend their resources in other places much better ;)

They havent realised yet they're not hurting Ryanair one bit

Dear Sean,

My criticism is not on the choice of the destinations. Who am I to state whether that is good or bad. I just speak about the route maps in b.inspired (http://ink-live.com/emagazines/binspired).

If I speak about the dots, you should read it literally ;)

I suppose it's too much to ask you for guidance as to what those would be then?

They already had an interesting lot of new routes for next summer so far, but if there's even more to come yet, then that's obviously very impressive, especially compared to the subdued expansion of their direct competitors at BRU!

Come on, they're not trying to hurt Ryanair. Ryanair is much too big for SN! They're just trying to survive in a difficult world by strengthening their position as much as they can on their home base.

Why not? Please explain; I'm not an expert like you. Is Comiso a Ryanair destination? A strong one?

Very interesting! Probably a "must read" for airlines executives.

Anyway, from what I know: the BA 777s will also go from 9 to 10-across in Y, and the A320s will be densified to 180 seats, like LH, SN or easyJet! (and the A321 to 218 seats). Uniformisation of European fleets...

I see 2 possibilities :
(a) Start a new "Belgian-Wing" brand as a subsidiary of SN. The BelW a/c's would fly a subset of present SN network s/h routes plus other leisure destinations, possibly l/hs. Same as Air-Canada-Rouge is a full member of *A (as a subsidiary of AC), BelW would enjoy the same status. They could share the same paintscheme as EW. SN, as the parent company, would continue operating the l/h destinations of their present ntwk and develop it still further.
(b) SN disappear, replaced by EW but EW are integrated as a full member of the star alliance. The transition could be implemented gradually or step by step but the final result would be that.
..
Both options make sure the airline operating at bru remains a full *A member which seems to me necessary for feeding and future development purpose.
Option (b) is weaker bcs the decision center would be clearly in German hands since there would be no distinct carrier operating at bru ... And I doubt the EW brand recognition and product offering to AFI and elsewhere would match present day's SN's.
..
Did I miss any other options that would keep the *A membership?

I was last week in YYZ Airport and flying AC Rouge thinking, as you, about your option A.
AC Rouge is a subsidiary of AC and full member of *A. AC has a very bad product on transatlantic flight ( SN has far away beter service ) and AC Rouge a verrrrrrry bad service on the Caribbean.

But I know there is no connection between the product and the possible option A
