Content of the article: The three biggest US carriers have reduced the number of weekly flights to BRU from 63 to 43. American Airlines cancels one Philadelphia-Brussels, Delta cancels Atlanta en United cancels its (plans for a) second daily New York, to replace the one from Jet Airways. Connections, one of the leading Belgian ticket agencies, says that US citizens, just like Asians, indeed have reduced their travel plans to Europe.

"A lot of work to do", lumumba? Belgium and France have already invested a lot in publicity, spots, campaigns and tv ads since 22/03. But for a lot of Asians and Americans, that's just wasted money. Just like the Europeans have almost totally cancelled their city trips to Istanbul or their beach holidays to Tunesia. For them, only time heals wounds.

Hi all,

In the September issue of b-inspired there is a nice overview of the new SN winter destinations, the additional frequencies, etc. Most of it has already been announced earlier and mentioned here in the forum but I guess this overview is more complete and provides the greater picture:

1. Belfast, Nuremberg and Nantes are destinations started in summer 2016 and will continue in winter 2016-2017 (frequencies not mentioned);
2. Naples and Porto become year-around destinations (frequencies not mentioned); - Sevilla not mentioned !
3. More flights:
- to Billund and Edinburgh (frequencies not mentioned);
- to Lisbon and Malaga (from 7/w to 10/w);
- to Tenerife (from 2/w to 3/w); - what with Las palmas?
- to Marrakesh (from 1/w to 2/w); - what with Agadir?
4. Oslo, Toulouse and Warsaw see bigger aircraft (A319)
5. Loung haul:
- Toronto for the first time in winter (no frequencies mentioned, but previously 4/w was announced);
- Additional frequencies (?) to Kigali and Entebbe (frequencies not mentioned but probably 1 additional frequency as was the case for the summer period).

Still a nice expansion for the winter time-table and hopefull some nice surprises throughout the winter time as was the case last year ... :)

Danny

Maybe I missed it, but I think the Yerevan discussion in the summer 2017 topic was purely speculative?
Today some articles of English Armenian websites about SN launching Yerevan-Brussels flights later this year. Or at least that discussions about direct flights between the two cities have been completed at a political level and that SN is awarded with the necessary traffic rights.

My parents just landed in Brussels from Porto on flight IB5157. I researched it and it says it is an Iberia flight. Since when does Iberia fly to Porto from Brussels?

Maybe an IB (Iberia) code on a VY (Vueling) operated flight?

It is a Vueling flight. All Vueling flights are codeshared with Iberia (and some also with British Airways).

Speaking of Vueling, they will stop flying from Brussels to Lisbon and Porto from end September. All benefit for the three survivors of the routes: TAP, SN and Ryanair.

Wow... this is quite surprising! I think that Vueling already stopped flying the Brussels - Rome route, isn't it?

In Spring 2014', they used to fly the following destinations from Brussels (if I am not mistaken) : Alicante, Barcelona, Lisbon, Malaga, Porto, Rome-Fiumicino, Valence and Venise. Seasonal : Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago-de-C.
FCO, LIS & OPO are major routes ex-BRU... It seems that the Ryanair attempt to launch a counter attack against the Vueling base in BRU is succesful... also brussels airlines proves to resist!

Somebody reported on another topic that Vueling is going to close its BRU base, just keeping flights to some spanish cities (I guess : Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Valence and seasonal : Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago-de-C. ). But what about their Brussels-Venice flights?

It doesn't say much about BRU though, except the BRU-FCO route that has already disappeared...

As long as Brussels Airlines doesn't announce publicly this new route nothing is sure and we can only speculate about it but what is sure is that there is a high chance that Brussels Airlines will open it!
