Strange incident at Dusseldorf yesterday evening: a Germanwings A319 from Dusseldorf to Dresden took off with 60 passengers still on the bus from the terminal building to the aircraft. Only the 40 pax from the first bus made it. The pilot didn't want to wait any longer because he wouldn't take the risk of being stranded at Dusseldorf because of the night curfew. The German press reports that there was an upset at the gate.

The Spanish press reports a serious upset at Vueling's office in Barcelona El Prat. At least four flights were cancelled, apparently an operational issue, and many passengers report they are overbooked because Vueling gave their seats to stranded pax from Thursday and Friday. There were so many angry passengers that the Spanish Police had to intervene.

Re: Trivia 2016 (miscellaneous news)
At least, Vueling has offices and ticket desks at BCN, where travellers can speak to a human being in case of problems. I saw those ticket desks during my recent trip through BCN and there were many people to speak to.
I was wondering why most Vueling BCN flights to BRU were late yesterday: you gave me the answer!

At the end of the day, 19 flights were cancelled on Saturday! And apparently more flights are cancelled today. Many others were delayed or diverted!Passenger wrote:The Spanish press reports a serious upset at Vueling's office in Barcelona El Prat. Vueling invokes "operational reasons", without giving further details. What a disorganisation!!!

To please the Dutch spotters, the last MD-11 with Dutch reg did a very low fly-by (at 350 ft) to runway 27 before heading to Miami (offload the cargo) and parking itself in the Californian desert:

Vueling's initial BCN-AMS/AMS-BCN (VY-8322/VY-8323) from late afternoon is cancelled and replaced by BCN-AMS/AMS-BCN VY-8328 and VY-8325. Arrival BCN-AMS at Amsterdam: 19h10. It's not only Brussels Airlines and Jetairfly who have this kind of problem:Poiu wrote:A too high utilisation rate of the aircraft, as predicted by some here a while ago. Today the Accra's flight...Now more than 3 hours !!!!!!! What's happen ? Technical problems ? Transit passengers problems ?
In case of a little mishap it takes days to absorb the delay, the same happens to OO-JDL.

Drama at Schiphol Airport Amsterdam around 09h15 this morning when a ground worker near gate E18 (airside) was hit by a Still tractor. The Lifeliner medical helicopter (PH-MAA) transferred the man to a hospital, but his colleagues have just been informed it was too late. RIP.

Re: Trivia 2016 (miscellaneous news)
The difference is that BA has plenty of spare airplanes but no spare A380's. One of them was hit by a baggage truck in IAD so was AOG and still is, which is taking all spare capacity B777's to cover for it, sometimes sending 2 B777 or a B747 and B777 a few minutes after each other to cover for the missing A380. Any other type AOG can easily be absorbed.Passenger wrote:It's not only Brussels Airlines and Jetairfly who have this kind of problem:Poiu wrote:A too high utilisation rate of the aircraft, as predicted by some here a while ago.
