Its not the pre-check, but PRE CHECK-IN that's going.
And you should take a chill pill

Well Teach and Sean, not even 2 months have passed and you guys are pretending that it never happened.
Do I have to remind you how many people were killed and how many heavily injured are still receiving treatment?

It's not about being a drama queen, but hey, what do I care.
If a bomb explodes in your or in one of your children's faces, I don't want to hear you complaining about it.
You guys were all over it the first days after the bombings playing luchtzak heroes.
When tragedy strikes, the drama queens unmask themselves very quickly.

Its not the pre-check, but PRE CHECK-IN that's going.
No it looks like the PRE-CHECK is going:
The pre-check tent that I had used days before was now closed. Only one in service was the northernmost one, closer to the Diamond building. Police there were directing most to the through lane, no check.

Pre-check does not change anything. One can still blow himself up in the pre-check tent, and more people will be killed compared to 22/03.

Other airports like AMS, LHR and CDG also don't have pre-checks and every major European city is at risk of another ISIS attack.

I stopped reading there. When you feel the moronic need to put words into people's mouths like that right out of the gate, anything else you wrote after that can't possibly be worthy of the time it would take me to read it.

Our lonesome ghost driver. Hundreds of people working at the airport are wrong. He comes there once every three or six months, and he thinks that's enough to know what has to be done.

Warning for all those Luchtzak members who say they have replaced BRU by AMS: there are two ongoing strike warnings for AMS Schiphol: one by security and one by KLM:

Indeed. Who said there are never strikes at AMS? FNV, the trade union for security controllers, will stage a first strike tonight at 1900. For 10-15 minutes. Announced as the first of a series of actions...

AMS asks passengers to come well in advance to avoid any problems...

And then there are union demonstrations in front of the head office of KLM. Before a strike?

That shows exactly what the problem is. In AMS they demonstrate to make their issues known, in BRU they report sick or strike without notice

As of tomorrow Friday 20 May, Alitalia, Air Europa, Czech Airlines, KLM and Hop! passengers also have to check in at the main departures hall (hall 1) instead of the provisional installations near the bus station.

One of the victims of the MS804 crash was a Belgian from West Flanders. He decided to fly to Egypt from CDG rather than from BRU. Fatal error.

May his soul rest in peace! But this reminds us that a terror attack can hit anywhere, and it would be stupid to shelve BRU in favour of neighbouring airports.

But if we do it or did it it's not because we wanna do it it's was for other reasons...

Talking about AMS... KLM has opened a (very nice!) pop-up store on the famous 'Meir' shopping street in Antwerp to convince people to fly via AMS instead of BRU.

In reaction, Brussels Airlines also opened a (sort of) pop-up at the prestigious Stadsfeestzaal shopping center, also on the Meir. Compared to the KLM store, it looks a bit cheap... :-?

Personally I consider that using BRU is practically back to usual, travelling with hand luggage and with on-line check-in that is.
After several positive experiences in the previous weeks, I had decided to ignore the xx hours in advance warning when I flew to MAD with SN this Monday.
STD is 09:20 and my parking ticket was stamped at 08:21. Parked at P1 so more direct access to the pre-screening tent, walked through it without stopping, into the terminal and straight to security via fast line, to arrive at the Loft at 08:40. The lounge was packed, barely a seat left. Coffee, couple of e-mails, down to A46 for a smooth boarding and departure on time.

So for me there is just nothing to change my standards. Congrats to BRU team and contractors.

Yesterday I accompanied family and the first part went as smooth. They had to check in luggage and this does take time though nothing but usual.

We do have an enhanced security that is probably of a sufficient level to be a deterrent to similar attacks while, now, generating minimum disturbance.
Works are progressing and when all operations are brought back to the main terminal, situation will be basically as smooth for all as before 22/03.

I hope that one day some reporting will be made available for the general public to realize the huge endeavour that BRU has gone through. This also applies to other stakeholders including airlines and handlers. Up until recently a number of SN cabin crews (probably others as well) were staffing the gate to enable other agents to have a break after running massive overtime. Nobody really counted her/his hours in the company.
It deserves respect.
And you have mine gals and guys there.

H.A.

Even with baggage the check in process is quite smooth and rapid, as I experienced last Sunday. I was at the airport parking 1 one hour and 45 minutes before departure and I had ample time to have a good breakfast at Belle et Belge before the scanner of the Connector and the passport control of Pier B. And then I still had to wait more than half an hour before boarding and on time departure.

There was a lot of SN staff on hand to help the passengers who had difficulties to self check their baggage.

Well, I Am fulminating.
At least sitting in the BA business lounge.
I am allowed 60 kg of luggage, but limited myself for once (because of Brussels Airport) to 40 kgs plus my cabin bag. A female police officer spotted me from far and with her arm made it clear I should go through the metal detector with my luggage. OK, i understand that.
Now I am a heart patient and not that fit any more at age 70.
Would you expect someone to help you lifting your bags seeing you have problems?
Don't, they will not move a finger, just wait you manage. Luckily the young man behind me helped lifting the second bag, quit high the metal detector band by the way.
At the other side no luggage carts and some male police watching the scene.
This I had to lift the 3 bags to the ground and wonder how to proceed.
I talked to the watching police who could not care less and told me to find some airport employee.
OK, I get to catch one who tells me where the luggage carts are outside the tent somewhere.
To make things better, it was raining...
I come back with a cart and again no one to help, everyone busing doing what they do.
I told the two alert police officers how nicely elderly people are treated at their tent.
Their reply: "the same treatment for every one"
Once I walked into the departure hall everything went smooth as before the terror attack.
Myself I am extremely unsatisfied, next stop Doha and Bangkok. I know by experience I will find helpful people there.
This check in at Brussels airport was the worst experience in all my years flying, I take at least 20 planes/year for over 50 years.
I have two trips BKK-AMS booked this year and unfortunately one BRU-LHR-YUL.
I agree all goes smoothly when don't have to hit the pre-check, but denying any help or compassion to elderly people is a no-no for me.
September will be AMS.

Shocking behaviour from members of a "public service"!
