Emergency markings on aircraft exterior
I've noticed that on a lot of planes for example Boeing 747 there are markings on the exterior of the plane which say "in case of emergency cut here"
Why should the rescue workers cut exactly there? When every second counts what does it matter where they cut? Just get those poor people out of there!!

Re: Emergency markings on aircraft exterior
These areas are marked to make sure the rescue workers will cut the plane's body without risking an explosion or something like that.ph-klm wrote:I've noticed that on a lot of planes for example Boeing 747 there are markings on the exterior of the plane which say "in case of emergency cut here"

Imagine you cut a pipe with flammable fluid, eletrical components, etc.

You mean like this here?:

I wonder it too. You see it especially on Garuda B747's:

I don't want to sound offensive but please read the answers to your initial message (ealier in this thread) before repeating your question...ph-klm wrote:Yes, thats exactly what I mean. And most of the time it's in a very strange place (on the roof). I wonder if they ever manage to get anyone out of there, maybe if the plane lands on its side?

An other ' emergency cut here'

most of the time it's in a very strange place (on the roof).....

and that's not on the roof.
But it seems logic to have such 'emergency cut here' on the roof too, for aircraft that get immersed...

Obviously you did not get my point: asking twice the same question in a short period of time is pointless since the other users are supposed to read a thread from the very begining.
In other words, there is no need to repeat your question after each answer you get.

Note: I have always been astonished by these new members who seem to be here just to argue with the other members.
I think OO-SBZ has a good point and an intelligent answere.
If you start cutting in a plane where you think it's oke you can hit some pipelines are electric wires wich can cause the plane the explode or caught fire.
They make these markings to make sure the the people will get out of the plane in a safe way in case the emergency exits don't work.
