I would think the police actions had more influence than a facebookpage that I didn't even start. Anyway. Out of 8 checkpoints, Brussels Airport had decided in all their wisdom to open only 4 this morning, leading to impressive queues. One would almost think this is done deliberately.

Brussels Airport decided?! Yeah right
Staffing on the pre-check can be a big issue, but that's not because of Brussels Airport remember... (I assume you know that the G4S people working at the pre-check are not contracted by BAC, but by fedpol as it's their responsibility to staff the pre-check).

Btw, as a general note. What has been called 'queues' is often caused by people that show up at the airport before their check-in opens, these are not allowed to enter until their check-in opens and they block the entrance for others. Probably they will set up a new waiting area for these passengers to get them out of the way (and out of the bad weather in case).

You are much mistaken.

In a few months when BRU is only a fraction from what it used to be and SN starts laying off staff our wonderful politicians will say: We dont know how this happened?!? Complete surprise.

Get me out of this country please

No I'm not, fedpol is responsible for staffing the pre-check and if they want G4S staff working there, it's their call to contract and pay them (directly or via BAC), but BAC is not staffing the pre-check themselves.

Would be even more insane, demand a pre-check for a public building (security there is not responsibility of BAC, but the authorities) and than require BAC to arrange staffing and pay for it... Hence why the negotiations were between fedpol and the ministry (FPS Interior) and not with BAC, hence why FPS Interior made promisses for more resources etc. and not BAC (except for the infrastructure).

Air Serbia will resume flight operations with an adjusted schedule between Belgrade and Brussels on 17 April.

And, as of today, taxis are available in the pick-up area in front of the arrivals hall of Brussels Airport.

Does anyone know when the SN wet-leases (Flybe, bmi) will fly again? A lot of smaller destinations are waiting for them!

Hello,
I read on the STIB Facebook page that the number of operational metro stations will rise from 39 to 51 from tomorrow thanks to additional police and soldiers available.

So I ask myself if the airport or the SNCB are only waiting for additional soldiers or police agents available for securing the train station or they are also studying & introducing infrastructure changes at the station?

Chaos this morning both on the Brussels Ring (R0) and on the highway to the airport (A201) because of police controls on cars driving to the airport. Some travellers are leaving their taxis and walk all the way from the Ring to the airport.

Bus operator De Lijn also warns of big delays on all routes serving Brussels Airport.

This is unacceptable, especially when the airport train station is still closed and travellers have no alternative. Airport management should strongly react!

Unfortunately, I have to agree on this one. I myself was able to drive through the Technics North zone (fortunately) , but I could see the huge (!) traffic jams on the A201. Noticed quite a few passengers walking with their bags to the airport.

Quite a serious mess for passengers but also for people who work at the airport and have to take these traffic jams everyday simply to get to their work...

Something will have to improve or people will turn their back on BRU

Best regards,
Ivan

This is already happening
Sadly

When might the station open? Or will people there also be checked thoroughly? I doubt if there is lots of space for this

I'm happy you made it clear andré, this is totally inacceptable indeed.
Not only for travelers, but also because they are blocking half of the country !

If they cannot make it work, they should say. And airlines shall use regional airports for a little longer.
It was proven to work good.

Wouldn't it be a solution to have a drop off zone near Brucargo and transport passengers by bus to the terminal? A little bit like during the works a couple of years ago.
