Wasn't there also talk of a Red Devils painted plane? Maybe it's that what tolipanebas hinted at?

FYI - Lufthansa is presenting their annual results of last year, today, so it could indeed be something entirely corporate and related to them.

Hi all,

I think SN (and other ailines) slice their announcements so that over a period of time they are regularly in (a positive way in) the press ...

What certainly should follow:

1. Announcement and presentation of the new Y+ class; maybe on the occasion of the start of the first flight of their new A333? They could then explain that over x months the other planes will follow
2. Announcement of the new destinations for the 10th A330. In fact the 10th plane itself was already announced/confirmed several times (e.g. in the in-flight magazine)
3. Announcement of the final results for 2015 (they were only roughly given); maybe linked to the announcement on the full take-over by LH
4. Announcemnt by LH of the medium- and long-term plans with SN: e.g. integration of SN short- and medium haul in Eurowings and plans for the long-haul and how they will use the BRU hub ...
5. Announcement of the development of a new lounge in Pier B, replacing the old one and taking the space of Jetairways. So a kind of LOFT 2
6. Announcement and presentations of new logo aircrafts

Just my two cents ...
Danny

We will find out soon, I guess.
One thing is for sure: there is a lot of very positive news pending, based on the shortlist from above.
The title of most dynamic airline in Belgium is already theirs(!).
Imagine that for a real network airline in a country where the low service airlines have a big footprint!

I remember that just 2 years ago, all that was discussed here was how soon they would be out of the skies and how deep their losses would become in the face of all the low cost competitors; 2 years on and they have actually pushed back those competitors in a way none of them ever expected, expanded like never seen before and have even significantly improved their financial result!
I'd say they deserve some positive press for that?

Personally, I never sat with those predicting only doom and gloom, but a truly miraculous turn around like the one staged by them wasn't exactly first on my mind either.

I agree with Inquirer, with one footnote: fuel price: 2 years ago nobody could have thought that the fuel price would drop this much. SN benefited a lot with 12 fuel inefficient cheap lease Avro's. Therefore I'm relieved the Avro's are going (although I love to fly the little chickens) and I hope they'll stay away from the A340-600's. Fuel prices can go up as quickly as they went down...

Cheers,

Stij

Thank you Stij!

I have no clue how they were covered on the fuel front, but most airlines which have already reported on their financial results have come out saying the biggest part of the drop in oil prices hasn't tickled through to their bottom line yet.

Remember oil prices only started to fall in summer last year, so indeed: the best may yet be to come for airlines buying their fuel years ahead in time, even as oil prices are moving up again by now.

Most dynamic? Are you kidding me? Have you seen what an evolution JAF has made over the last 4 years? (Without 60 press conferences for a handful of planes, some different liveries and a few new routes ;) )

I love your optimism but they are not out of the woods yet. What LH will do with them is unknown and what will happen when fuel prices rise back to normal levels is also unknown

Looking at the 'fleet goal' of the LH Group...

Image

15 longhaul aircraft would be perfect for SN. (in fact it's the absolute minimum for a decent longhaul network)

So based on the LH 'goal' the possibilities are:
- A350
- B777
- B747
- A330

Personally I hope they'll get a fleet of 15 A350 or 777.

Please do elaborate. How is JAF more dynamic? To me they're still doing the same thing they were 5 years ago. But I could be wrong off course!

in Belgium yes, but they have set up an arm in africa and all over france. JAF their operations have nearly doubled in the last 3 years with some very clever set-up's and with new airplanes (and second hands too)

You can't compare those things with SN in my opinion,...

The arm in Africa (EC Air) isn't set up by JAF, they merely took over ops from privatair so I wouldn't count it as a succes of JAF and the France ops is due to the fact that TUI France needs an airline to operate it's holiday flights and since Corsair isn't really actively a part of the TUI group it's quite logical that JAF operates those flights ;)

However I do give them credit for their Maroc ops that was a bit "het gat in de markt" as they say in Dutch.

SN has a totally different background and ops than JAF has but growth is steady @ SN and the plans for the future are ambitious so just stay tuned ;)

whether there background is different doesn't really make a difference. My ex-partner worked for PTI in BZV and actually the whole " just take over" was not so simple as you make it sounds avro_flyer, with all respect.

It's not because they are offered chances that they are automatically succesfull with it. Whatever JAF touches seems to turn in to gold for a strange reason that I haven't found out yet :D A lot of Belgians don't actually know how JAF really has grown in the last couple of years cause they only look at what happens in BRU

I'm certainly not minimizing the the take over as it surely it a complicated process however my point is that JAF is not running ECair, they are just operating the planes so if it's successful or not is not really in hands of JAF ;)

JAF has had a healthy growth over the years indeed certainly by expanding outside the borders but let's not forget they are also backed by a highly successful group (TUI) which also helps in achieving growth.

Anyway this is obviously completely off topic ;)

OO-SNE performed its delivery flight SAW-BRU today.
OO-SSJ is making its way from the US to OSR for painting using its current registration N908FR.
OO-SNC is the one currently in OSR being painted in Magritte livery iso OO-SNH.

What a waste, why they don't lend them to SN for a much-needed African expansion escapes me.
Also, it would be perfect to open HKG.
Forget about the LH A346s for SN. They will probably be sold to Iran Air, said LH CEO Carsten Spohr.
