I suppose if it's good for VIE it should be good for BRU also ? VIE caters for central-Europe/italy market, bru would cater for UK-regional/Ireland/France-regional market. The a/c is new, efficient and small, they would not feed the N_A mroning departures it's not their point. They would feed at DEL AI's routes to India/S_E Asia, possibly offering an intersting alternative to the ME4. If the price is right why not ?
BOM on the other hand, if served by SN would be scheduled on the morning bank to feed the NA routes also. Not sure if SN can make good money out of it .. but BRU is still on the minds of many Indian travellers ...

Re: SN to Mumbai or Delhi?
I think AI has a cheaper seat/kilometer than SN.
But I'm not 100% shure.

Hasta la victoria siempre.
Re: SN to Mumbai or Delhi?
Austria is a very popular tourist/honeymoon destination for Indians. Many Bollywood movies include scenes in the Austrian Alps. Switzerland is also populal, belgium on the other hand is not a tourist destination for Indians. We have diamond traffic to The Mumbai region, and other businesses connected to India..mostly to BOM. Add to that connecting pax to n. America and regional UK, business could be generated. Delhi, on the other hand will have to rely almost entirely on connecting pax through Bru.
Re: SN to Mumbai or Delhi?
Actually I realised that a tag-on to DEL would be too much of a stretch to schedule.
Forget that I suggested it.

Re: SN to Mumbai or Delhi?
Hi all,
I agree with Teach and Sean, SN should not serve the Indian market.
I did a BRU passenger forecast analysis last month for my MSc. at Cranfield University and investigated a new route to India. Putting SN on the BOM route because Jet Airways moved to AMS won't give the same loadfactors, It is true that Belgium has a tourism attraction for Indians, but AMS will feed that traffic to BRU using code share agreements between KLM and Jet Airways. Most of the traffic BRU received from Jet Airways was not O&D but was hub traffic to North America. SN could feed pax from BOM to BRU and use the star alliance to feed them to North America, but will be heavily competing against JAI.
SN has its expertise in Africa, of course it would be nice to have some presence in Asia and show that the little Belgians are still around, but this is not how an airline works these days. It should increase frequencies to Africa, and that's what the ninth a330 will be used for I assume.
But then again, I am only a student, so all of the stuff above could be completely wrong.

Re: SN to Mumbai or Delhi?
Maybe a stupid question/idea, but isn't it possible for 9W to keep for example a 4 weekly A332 (or A333) BOM-BRU-BOM? They've built up all their facilities AND name/reputation here in Brussels, so isn't it quite a shame letting that ALL go?
