Due to a terrorist attack in Ouadagoudou (Burkina Fasso) earlier this evening, the airport has been closed and several aircraft (a.o. AF, TK) have been diverted. For example, Air France AF536 diverted to Niamey.

Austrian Airlines made many efforts to re-brand into myAustrian, with a new livery, the disappearance of the light blue colour, etc.
This drew a lot of criticism, hence they revert to ... Austrian Airlines

Strange tweet of TAP Portugal: "Due to safety reasons TAP complies with, it is not allowed to take pictures out of the window of the aircraft".
If so, I'm not ready to fly TAP any time soon...
No need to say that this tweet provoked a lot of negative reactions, everybody wondering which are those "safety reasons" ! Some people even posted pictures taken from a plane and posted by TAP itself:

Could be considered as espionage?

So "convenient" for the UK in the next round of talks with Argentina about the Falklands...sn26567 wrote:Work is progressing fast to complete an airport for the remote South Atlantic island of St Helena, a British Overseas Territory, perhaps even better known as the final residence of Napoleon. Previously the island has only been linked to the African mainland, 1200 miles away by ship.

Airbus also delivered the first A320neo to launch customer Lufthansa this morning.

But Lufthansa didn't even bother to have it written on the fuselage that it was a "neo":

Indeed, and to start with why are they all referring to an A320-200?
All A320s flying today are A320-200. Only a handful of A320-100 were ever built and after so many years the last one must have been recycled 1000 times into pop cans.
As the last two digits identify the engine version, e.g. 320-211 and -214, LH got an A320-2xx. Anybody for the new ref? And has LH taken a LEAP or a P&W?

Double Elephant(*) strike at MUC.
An IBERIA A320, equipped with Sharklets, went close and personal with two (2), zwei, deicer trucks.
Looks like either the aircraft was cleared to proceed but the truck baskets were not raised high enough, or it went too far before stopping on the deicing pad.
Luckily the guys in the deicing trucks were unhurt.
See : http://www.abendzeitung-muenchen.de/inh ... 921f7.html
(*) : not 100% sure though that these deicer trucks are Elephants from Vestergaard, but I'd kill for a pun.

And for the other topic, those A320 sharklets seem to be quite strong! Probably not a composite structure

It was really a bad day for IAG. The night before, a British Airways A380 hit a boarding bridge in Miami ! Here is a mixed image of the two incidents:Homo Aeroportus wrote:An IBERIA A320, equipped with Sharklets, went close and personal with two (2), zwei, deicer trucks.

Concorde started flying in commercial service 40 years ago, with British Airways and Air France. Some memorabilia:
The only photo of a Concorde flying at Mach 2, taken by Adrian Meredith from a Tornado over the Irish Sea in April 1985.

Remember the Concorde logo-jet?
