Some stories are too horrible to discuss, so I don't post it in a seperate topic.

Whilst preparing for departure, the co-pilot of Air India flight 619 Mumbai-Hyderabad (A319?) misunderstood a signal by a ground staff as a sign to started the engines. Unfortunately, an aircraft technician was still standing very close to an engine. Too close - he didn't survive.

Aeromexico starts flights from Mexico to Amsterdam, and to promote those flights they show the Dutch star football player Arjen Robben, famous for his falls in the penalty area during World Cup 2014 in Brazil, with the words: "Now we too fly too Amsterdam":

Amazon.com Inc. is creating a logistics operation that will include overnight air operations in the US domestic market, potentially including the acquisition of at least 20 freighter aircraft, Cargo Facts has learned.

Currently, Amazon ships most of its parcels through United Parcel Service, FedEx, and the United States Postal Service. The change to an inhouse logistics venture would seismically change the airfreight industry, as the majority of new air cargo activity around the world has come from e-commerce companies — and much of it from Amazon, in particular.

Amazon’s efforts are ongoing and fluid, but sources tell Cargo Facts that the world’s largest e-commerce company by revenue is negotiating for the acquisition of perhaps 20 767 widebody freighters from The Boeing Company. By considering the ownership of a fleet of aircraft Amazon is signaling that it will take in house at least some of the massive logistics and shipping services currently provided to it by UPS, FedEx and USPS.

Jet Airways sabotaging the competition? A few hours ago, a Jet Airways bus hit a parked Air India Regional ATR-42-320 at Kolkata airport. The driver is said to have lost control before making contact with the aircraft on bay 32. There were no reported injuries.

"...A Boliviana de Aviacion Boeing 737-300, registration CP-2552 performing flight OB-580 from Santa Cruz to Sucre (Bolivia) with 129 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Sucre's runway 05 at about 10:15L (13:15Z) and slowed, however, went off the right hand edge and past the end of the paved surface of the runway coming to a stop nearly perpendicular to the runway center line with all gear on soft ground. There were no injuries, the aircraft did not sustain damage. The airline reported that the aircraft went off the runway when they wanted to turn around at slow, controlled speed to backtrack the runway to the terminal..."

Oops! I landed at Sucre on a Boliviana de Aviacion B733 (not this one, but CP-2920) 6 weeks ago. But all went OK...

I noticed one comment that explains what could have happened: "Consider that this runway elevation is 9500 ft high so your app speed is really high a little tail wind will considerable increase your stop distance even in normal conditions, so in case in a burs tire during landing roll will drastically deteriorate your normal stopping". I concur: landing distances in Bolivia were VERY long!

To me it looks as if it got blown away by the wind while being parked. And the wheel collapsed when it hit the barrier.

But what a lucky escape for the bus driver.

Apparently they had a hydraulic failure (brake failure) after taxying on to the stand and broke through the barrier.

Air India may end up scrapping its Alliance Air ATR42-300, serial 406, as the aircraft and right engine were extensively damaged after a passenger coach ploughed into it.

Air India may seek around US$10 million compensation from Jet Airways for the damage suffered by one of its Alliance Air ATR42-300 in the recent incident at Kolkata airport.

Italy's airlines in the hands of the Gulfies?

After Etihad purchased 49% of flagship airlines Alitalia, now it's the turn of Qatar Airways to buy 49% of Meridiana.

Meridiana, which offers flights to and from the island of Sardinia and other destinations in Italy and elsewhere, is owned by the Aga Khan, a businessman and spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims.

The Middle East carrier is also considering taking a 25-49 percent stake in Morocco's Royal Air Maroc, said Qatar Airlines Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker.
