Bird strikes are very common in aviation, but a dog strike?

A Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 performing flight TK-1450 from Porto to Istanbul with 68 passengers, landed on Istanbul Ataturk Airport's runway 05 when a dog crossed the runway and was hit by the aircraft. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and taxied to the apron. The aircraft did not sustain damage but needed a good wash.

I should think a low-pass (or a couple of them?) ought to scare them off?
Worse about boars is their tendency to make holes, also on grass runways: not so long ago, the Ulmodrome at Maillen (EBML) had to be closed for this reason.

The crew and passengers of a Lufthansa flight today from Frankfurt to Belgrade overpowered a Jordanian man with a US passport who interfered with a cabin door, threatening to bring the plane down. The passengers are said to be players of the Voivodina handball team. The man was arrested by police upon the arrival in Belgrade.

The current problems of Volkswagen are known. They need money. Thus Volkswagen will sell its VIP A319, serial 1212, as part of a broader plan to rein in costs.

An intruder fast asleep in Angela Merkel's bed on board of the German Government's A319

Volkan T. was reported on Tuesday to have been fast asleep in a bed used by Chancellor Angela Merkel when police boarded the government jet where he had partied in his underpants, high on drugs. She wasn't there. Prosecutors have yet to find a motive.

The security breach took place on the night of July 25 and criticism of the police and air force has intensified in recent days after it emerged how easily he managed to get on board, and that it took police almost four hours to secure the plane by removing him.

Volkan T. is believed to have been under the influence of marijuana and ecstasy while he partied around the plane, causing €100,000 in damage by spraying fire extinguisher foam around the luxury interior, deploying an emergency slide and damaging the surface of a wing. He also fiddled with cockpit controls and could technically have taken off, investigators said.

USA's three biggest airlines ban "hoverboards"

American, Delta and United announced that they would no longer allow these things aboard their planes.

Poorly labeled, powerful lithium-ion batteries powering hoverboards are the issue as per Delta airlines statement.Delta reviewed hoverboard product specifications and found that manufacturers do not consistently provide detail about the size or power of their lithium-ion batteries.

Delta said it found that the strength of the batteries in hoverboards “often” exceeded government limits for what’s allowed onboard an aircraft. “While occurrences are uncommon, these batteries can spontaneously overheat and pose a fire hazard risk,”

Other airlines are taking the same measures.

It's amazing how these 'toys' are already that popular to trigger a concern and a ban with airlines..

It seems after all that the information was premature: the livery of the first 777 will match that of the rest of the SWISS fleet, says SWISS in a tweet today.
