I was well in time at Lima airport, some three hours in advance.
The check-in queue was short in front of the 5 check-in desks. My electronic boarding pass was of no use, as I got a paper one anyway.
And then through passport and hand baggage control to gate 17, where I still had to wait a couple of hours before boarding started by groups. As usual, I was among the latest to board..
2. Lima - Madrid
Flight: Iberia IB6650, codeshared with BA
Date : 5 Nov 2015
Aircraft: Airbus A340-600 EC-JCZ "Vicente Aleixander"
From-To: Lima - Madrid (LIM-MAD)
Seat: 17L
Scheduled/Effective Time of Departure: 21:05/20:55 (GMT-5)
Scheduled/Effective Time of Arrival: 14:30/14:05 (GMT+1)
Scheduled/Effective Duration of the flight: 11 hr 25 min/11 hr 10 min
Same aircraft as on the outbound flight. When I stepped into the aircraft, my seat was occupied. But with the help of a steward the lady in my seat could move to the row behind, and both of us had a free seat next to us. Well done!
Pushback 10 minutes early. A view on the KLM flight to AMS, due to leave 5 minutes after us.
Take-off from Runway 15 over Lima City towards the Pacific Ocean.
Very soon dinner was served: undefined kind of salad, chicken or ravioli (I chose the latter), bread cheese and crackers, and a pudding as dessert. I must confess it was not very appetising, even if the wine to wash it down was palatable...
After that I fell in a deep sleep until breakfast! This was served less than one hour before landing. During the night we had flown from Peru over Colombia and Venezuela to the Azores (Ponte Delgado) and then to Porto.
Some snow on the Sierra Nevada, just before landing. And then our shadow on approach before landing on 33R.
Some interesting birds already present at Terminal 4S, seen during taxi;
And finally at gate U59 in Terminal 4 Satellite half an hour early after a good flight in which I slept most of the time!

3. Transit in Madrid
Theoretically I had 75 minutes to change terminals (and my baggage label showed "short connection"), but with the early arrival from Lima, I was much more at ease.
I thus took the automatic train from T4S to T4 in the driver's seat
to arrive at Gate K79 for the flight to BRU.
4. Madrid - Brussels
Flight: Iberia IB3214
Date : 6 Nov 2015
Aircraft: Airbus A321 EC-JRE
From-To: Madrid - Brussels - Amsterdam (MAD-BRU)
Seat: 7A
Scheduled/Effective Time of Departure: 15:45/15:47 (GMT+1)
Scheduled/Effective Time of Arrival: 18:10/17:57 (GMT+1)
Scheduled/Effective Duration of the flight: 2 hr 25 min/2 hr 10 min
I had previously been asked if I wanted to bid for an upgrade in business class. My bid of 80 EUR was turned down a few days before departure.
Boarding by groups. I was, as usual, among the last in the last group.
On-time departure and taxiing to Rwy 36L
Uneventful flight. In row 7 (probably used sometimes for business class), I had plenty of leg room. Being very thirsty, I purchased a beer with roasted almonds.
Early arrival in BRU and landing on the usual 25L after a good comfortable flight.
And that was the end of a nice trip to South America, full of interesting discoveries.

The weather has mostly been good, although not hot. But at 4000m I guess it never is hot.galaxy wrote:Thanks for the report of the beautiful trip. Hope the weather was not to bad because of the rain season.
