Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
European regional carrier, VLM Airlines, has launched a direct service from Birmingham to the thriving commercial and tourist centre of Antwerp in Belgium.
The inaugural flight was greeted with a water arch salute whilst VIP passengers were greeted by the Belgium ambassador to the United Kingdom, Guy Trouveroy.
Steve Blair, chief operating officer of VLM Airlines, says: “This new route not only serves many businesses in the area, but is also ideal for travellers looking for a city break.
Flights between Birmingham and Antwerp will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

@tangolima
Why dont you say the whole thing rather than saying a bit. Or dont say anything at all.

@ Saratoga,
Patience my friend! Sometimes on this forum hints are given by members with inside information. But then the actual to the point info is still under embargo!
Kind regards,

Luchtzak is in the air for quite a few years. We should be grateful to get first hand hints and crumbles. As fellow member Stij points out: inside information which is under embargo.
Knowing this, you might want to reconsider your post to Tangolima. He's a good guy
Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft
I am not saying he is not a good guy. Just saying that if you know something tell everything or just dont say anything. Why making people more curious? Dont see the point of that.

@Saratoga: Be grateful that as much was communicated as was judged acceptable - if you don't want no info at all, you can just stay away from here!

Same applies for those who don't like that the question (you've said a, what is b?) is asked: you can just stay away from here!@Saratoga: Be grateful that as much was communicated as was judged acceptable - if you don't want no info at all, you can just stay away from here!

Never realized this myself, but looks like VLM had a sister company in the Netherlands which has now declared bankruptcy. A total of 75 jobs gone, flights from Rotterdam will now be operated by the Belgian company.
At the same time, VLM is announcing a 'small and realistic' cost cutting plan in Antwerp. Not sure whether that involves job losses as well.

According to De Tijd, L'Echo and Luchtvaartnieuws, VLM Airlines Nederland is bankrupt. 75 jobs are lost, and also in Antwerp savings should be implemented before year end. However, the flights from Rotterdam to Hamburg are maintained, but will be operated by the Belgian parent company.

So no Sukhoi SSJ at Antwerp in the near future.
VLM's F-50 fleet is aging however, so something has to be done.

Very sad news but somehow i am not surprised. They seem to struggle to find their path and customers after the Cityjet debacle.
All the best for them.

75 Jobs for such a small operation in RTM? That's quite a lot in my opinion. Couldn't they have done with less people from the beginning?VLM Airlines Nederland is bankrupt. 75 jobs are lost,
Could be the reason why VLM-NL went bankrupt in the first place. Their salarybase must have been 'enormous' in comparison to the income generated in RTM/NL.
