Dutch airline KLM is poised to cut a quarter of its managerial jobs and support functions, broadcaster Nos says.
KLM is too complex, too slow and too expensive. The company is too hierarchical, has too many managers and ‘has lost sight of its customers’.

According to KLM, this means 25% of managers will lose their jobs and those who remain will have bigger departments to deal with. In addition, support, HR and communications departments, can be streamlined and made more efficient.

Cityjet have today announced that they have been awarded a major wet lease contract by SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) to operate a network of regional routes from Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm.

Cityjet have today announced that they have been awarded a major wet lease contract by SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) to operate a network of regional routes from Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm.

And CityJet acquires SAS subsidiary Blue1:

SAS enters into agreements with Cityjet for wet lease and sale of Blue1
(Bloomberg) SAS begins collaboration with Cityjet on regional jet services. As part of this collaboration, Cityjet is also acquiring 100% of the shares in SAS subsidiary Blue1.

In line with this strategy, SAS has entered into an agreement with Cityjet on the wet lease of eight new Bombardier CRJ900s. SAS already operates twelve regional jet aircraft of this type through its subsidiary, Cimber.

The new aircraft, which each have 90 seats and are painted in SAS colors, will be put into service from March 2016 on routes and at times when there is a need for smaller aircraft. The wet lease agreement is for three years and covers eight Bombardier CRJ900s with an option on a further six aircraft.

An American Airlines captain died in flight, and the co-pilot safely landed the plane with 147 passengers, an airline official said.

The A320 was flying from Phoenix to Boston and was diverted to Syracuse, New York.

The airline official did not specify the cause of death.

And today, a United Airlines co-pilot lost consciousness mid-flight from Houston to San Francisco. The pilot diverted to Albuquerque. At landing, the co-pilot was unconscious but stable.

Lufthansa, which forced partner Brussels Airlines off the Nairobi route in exchange for flights to Accra, Ghana, is coming under severe and sustained critique.

Apparently, the airlines has made a U-turn and is scaling back the number of services operated from the envisaged four to just three, in addition to which a smaller aircraft is now scheduled to operate the Frankfurt to Nairobi flights from mid-October.

That's their standard airport to refuel on the AMS-IKA flight.
Because they can't get fuel on in Amsterdam.
So logical to fly to PRG
